Done. Took about 50 minutes. Did not tempt my battery, so I took a short loop out in the desert.

I have tried using my battery maintainer (3 amp, microprocessor controlled) to keep the voltage up while I was programming with FORscan (which is a much shorter process) and it still couldn't keep up. I had to use a larger, dumber charger set to 20 amps (its 2 amp setting didn't work either) to keep the voltage high enough for FORscan (can't have the engine running for that).

If someone wants to try it with the ignition on (not retained accesory power) and an external charger that keeps the voltage high enough (assuming that your charger just wasn't putting out enough voltage) we can see if it will work... I thought about it, but didn't want to risk it crapping out before it was finished. Between this and the threads for updating Sync it seems that these things can be pretty finicky.
My battery tender did ok when installing the Sync updates which took about 20-30 minutes but I dunno how it will work for over an hour.

I am trying to check for an update but I keep getting error 016. They are saying that my vin and esn does not match but it's correct. The module came from a salvage car and i have the vin and the esn is hard coded into the module but maybe ford is starting to look for salvaged cars and blacklist them

Maybe the salvage yard sold the parts from two different vehicles. Seen that happened before!

I have three salvage yard Sync 3 swaps I've done including mine and all three showed a update.

I called the scrap yard and it's the only 2019 they have. Not sure why it would be reporting that the module and VIN do not match.
I am on Map NA 1.17 and NA 1.18 is out but I can't get it.:crying:

You have the same APIM that came with it? i.e. did not swap it for another?

I have a 10A battery charger. Has anyone tried this yet? Will the car shut off electrical power if it isn't running? (like it does with the radio if you're listening with the ignition off) Just don't want to leave the car running for an hour and already ran all my errands.

And now... I'm getting Error Code LST_ERR05. In the list on the website it says it's missing the license file. What should it look like? I have .TAR, SyncMyRide, autoinstall and DONTINDEX.
****Nevermind. I had to put the .tar file in the SyncMyRide folder with the other tar files.

I do. i even called them to see if they had another 2019 mustang in case they might have mixed it up. This is the VIN 1FA6P8CF6K5141638 if you search it it shows the 2019 mustang and I was able to confirm that they have this car
Not sure why ford's system is saying that they do not match

$110 for Map update? Nooooo thank you, Android Auto is where it's at Ford! Haha, Ford is offering Android Auto and Apple carplay and still hopes for charging $110 for map updates...So ridiculous!

Got the update downloaded yesterday. It was free for me, I could have ordered a USB stick, but that was $40.
I installed it today, I went for a drive while it updated, after about 30 minutes it rebooted and continued to update.
I was getting closer to home and I figured I'd wait there if not finished. Funny thing is.....as I pulled into my driveway it said update complete.
It took about 55 minutes total. Now on 1.18.

When I tried Android Auto a couple of years ago it was total crap. And it required that the phone be physically plugged into the USB port, which is a total non-starter for me.

I'm willing to accept that they may have fixed the bugs that prevented it from working more than once or twice here and there and possibly even developed it into something at least marginally useful over the past few years. But it if still requires a physical tether it is still mostly worthless.

If I recall correctly, back then Android Auto completely replaced the Sync 3 interface and you lost all the touch screen controls for the vehicle's systems. Was that the case? Is that still the case? Can Android Auto inject voice commands to the climate controls and receiver? And can it interpret voice cammands without cell service?

Maybe if they have it working entirely over Bluetooth I might have to take another look to see what it's capable of now.

I agree that $100 is steep, but most other brands I've dealt with are comparable or charge even more for their NAV updates. At least Ford finally has it available and with a self install option.

I assume you're having this issue for the same reason I did. There is more than one "ESN" in your sync info. You want to enter in the "SYNC Serial Number (ESN):". You do NOT want the "Onboard Modem Serial Number (ESN):"

As soon as I entered the Sync serial number, my update info popped up and I saw that I was eligible for a complimentary map update. Hope that helps.
