Seat fabric quality

Have a 2017 California Special. It has the fabric seat inserts. Normally in the car by myself and every so often my wife.
Heaviest person is myself at 160#’s.

Was vacuuming the seats and noticed a seam in the middle of the passenger seat is splitting. Just turned 20,000 miles. Garage kept and never ever abused.

Wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Ford replaced the hood on our ‘16 explorer because of dissimilar metals corrosion. It just turned 20,000 miles also. No stone chips either.

I have a 2016 GT/CS, weigh a little more than you, 11K miles, and my seats still look nearly new.

It's still under warranty; have it repaired/replaced.

That does seem odd. However, it IS cloth, which may not be as durable as leather. I got the cloth, because I actually like the comfort of it better than the leather. Breathes better, and holds me still better when spirited driving.

If it rips, then I'll just go get myself some custom Alcantara front seat covers.

Same here, but at 1,900 miles I'm already getting wear on the left side bolster. If they get bad before trade in time I'll do some cool covers also.

Nothing in the middle but driver side bolster would have gotten worn had I not put Coverking custom fit seat covers on at 500 miles. I just replaced them with new covers and the seats look bran new underneath. Spendy but they lasted three years.

I’ve not seen a seat bolster that does not show wear at some point. My carbon fiber package has Alcantara inserts. I’m hopeful they will hold up.

Maybe it's time to get yourself some aftermarket leather.
I changed mine by myself... Took me about 10 hours... But they look great

I like good quality fabric seats, but our 2015 V6 was looking very tatty, so installed the Katzkin leather for $550 and couldn't be happier.
