Dealers just have other brands manufacture them and slap their name on it to uncharged. No difference from the original manufacturerer they just charge more having their own name on it.
Damn that filter is destroyed lol. I have yet to see a filter that bad. Never had issues FL500s but I got to say it bothers me the filter doesn't have plastic cover in the front.
Most dealers and companies rotate their stocks, presenting the oldest items first, loading the newest from the back of the shelf. Mustang Gen 3 has been around for years. I wonder if this dealer was short on stock, this filter being dusted off and recovered from the attic or something.
Agree with others: the filter does not look like it was built in the last several years alone. Appears to have been exposed to the elements, possibly in someone's shed or exterior storage.
I did a bit of a study on oil filters a few years ago and I would not use a Ford motorcraft oil filter there are much better filters around. The construction of the filter and the filter paper itself is not very good. There's no support for the filter paper like some have. There's a lot of stuff on YouTube but check out the different filter specs. I'm in Australia and found Ryco syntec to be the best available here.
