I get it but ultimately torque rules all...
You say you get it but then immediately prove you don’t get it.

I could say the same thing about rpm. Without shaft speed you don’t have motion, and without motion you don’t have a usable car. Rpm rules all. (No, I don’t really believe this). I can make unlimited torque with my own bare hands and a long enough wrench, but I can’t push a car more than a couple of mph on flat ground. Why? Because I can’t make more than half a horse or so.

Infinite torque can not move a car without rpm. In order to move a car you most have torque AND rpm, and what is horsepower? Torque x rpm (x constant)

In my defence of torque:

“Remember, you cannot have horsepower without torque, but you can have torque without horsepower!”
You can only have torque without horsepower if you're driving a torque wrench.

By Fatguy logic, a human with a set of pedals and a 100/1 gearbox is the perfect powerplant. 10,000 ftlb of torque and 1/2 hp!

Yes but torque ultimately defines the limit of a car’s horsepower potential. The 7.3 has more
displacement and thus more base torque and horsepower potential than the 5.0. Whatever you do to the Coyote you can do to the 7.3 and the 7.3 will come out ahead every time. The only down side is the extra weight but the extra torque more than makes up for it.

The amount of horsepower with the larger motor is more up to user preference than with a smaller motor. You have more options with a big motor. So I can have my low horsepower truck experience and Erick427 can have his dragster. With a small 2 litre motor you have less options and less variations of practical use for that motor as opposed to the larger one. If we are just talking about performance in all it’s forms and not CAFE requirements and personal gasoline expenses - that is...

Reading between the lines, and I can't say anymore, Fatguy drives a local delivery van. Amazon and such like.
Drove in one to pick up a real truck. Amazingly they are 4 pots! It has come to that! And someone else drove that van so I only have ever driven 4 cylinder once.

Amazon is eyeing acquisitions up here. Not good...

You guys are too myopic in your perspective that you can’t see beyond it. I blame the scholastic system that was not broad enough.

So wrong. So wrong. You are wrong.
I'm pretty sure that math rules the financial world, and by extension everything tied to that.

.... You have more options with a big motor....
You know what’s better than options? Options you can switch on the fly! Options like being able to adjust cam timing on intake and exhaust independently to match every situation.... and to use port or direct injection or a blend.....and to alter intake runner geometry while you drive.....oh wait....the 5.0 does all that today!

He is what you might call a Windbag.

A Canadian Windbag.

You are absolutely- 100 Percent - Correct!

I am a Canadian windbag. Some fine examples of me in action. But a Windbag for good instead of evil. And isn’t it late for you tonight?
