2020 ford 7.3: Dump truck engine of the future.

:like:

Dump truck motors rock and the largest are truly spectacular:

“797F engine
A gross 4,000 hp (2,983 kW) [net 3,793 hp (2,828 kW)] Cat C175-20 ACERT single block, 20-cylinder, electronic common rail injection, quad turbocharged, air-to-air aftercooled, four-stroke diesel engine powers the 797F.The power rating of the C175-20 is valid up to an elevation of 7,000 ft (2,134 m) or up to 16,000 ft (4,877 m) with a high altitude arrangement.”

Dump truck motors are so solid and have big balls! Put one in my Mustang any day. I’m ok with four turbos (or even 12 in some cases if my memory serves me correctly) if I get 4000 horsepower!!!!!

Actually the torque numbers appeal to me more!

Only old scraggly truckers will appreciate that...
First of all, you focused on power ("I’m ok with four turbos (or even 12 in some cases if my memory serves me correctly) if I get 4000 horsepower!!!!!"), hence my response about power. Irrelevant either way because the 7.3 won't make 1/30th the torque of that engine. I think you know that's not the dump truck we're talking about.

Well yes, just to show you there are other perspectives out there other than the popular ones that dominate here. Like international matters, keeping an open mind to alternative frames of references and alternative value systems can show you why some like the 7.3. For example the pitch to truckers about the 7.3 may be utility. While putting it in the Mustang is a novelty, or the bedrock of a dragster (maybe).

In the end who decides the value judgement of the end result; or the value given to the opportunity cost of this swap as opposed to buying something off the self that is built by committee for the masses...

Please save the lecture. You don’t have the credibility here to convince anyone of much of anything.

Well it is what it is.

Well see you at the drag strip in your favourite rides and see who crosses the line first!

That was deep, man. I get what you mean but he won’t.

In my defence of torque:

“Remember, you cannot have horsepower without torque, but you can have torque without horsepower!”

I get it but ultimately torque rules all...
