Have you guys been able to loosen the original filter with a regular 1/2" drive ratchet or is a breaker bar necessary? I will be doing my first change in a week or so.
UGH do you mean 3/8?? You dont need a breaker bar for 18FT lbs. get a torque wrench..

1/2 drive ratchet is way overkill unless you have one smaller then ive ever seen.

I believe the filter wrench that came with the supplement uses a 22mm socket, which fits my 1/2" drive ratchet.

Oh i didn't look at it yet. Id used a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter. Most 1/2 TQ arent going to be that accurate at 18ft lbs.

Is there a way to tell which filter you have without getting under the car? I have a 2017.

if u remove the driver's side wheel you can check it fairly easily. not sure if you can see the filter by simply turning the front wheels (i think you can if you get low enough and look up).

I believe a build date before 3/17 has spin on can. Look through the drivers front wheel at the 7:00 position with a flashlight. Do this in your garage or out of direct light. If you see a white filter, you have the canister.
There seems to be confusion regarding what is a canister and what is a cartridge.
A canister is a spin on single piece and a cartridge contains a housing with a removable filter inside.
