Hi guys new here , been lurking for some time, 2017 GT 6R80

Here’s my dilemma, I don’t live in the USA with lots of available go to shops.
I’m in South Africa, Cape Town,(for a foreable future) and want to add a power adder above but am concerned with backup, easy of fit , maintenance, and tuning supplied with unit. They are RHD here.

I sent Beefcake a private email but am not sure he got it , so posting here.

It’s not about the power etc. Both products are tops, with the turbo being what I’m used to from other daily drivers.

So what would you guys do being in my situation ?
I need the least headaches.

Most turbo kits are tuner and require working with one consequently. Also, rhd may mess with comparability. A supercharger like whipple might do you better. They only need an oil change (for the unit) every 100k miles and if you get a complete kit they come with tuning. Also probably no compatibility issues with rhd, but not sure. Try messaging beef or lethalperformance on here. They should be able to answer all your questions.

Thanks .
The tune from supplier is critical. There is no one I trust to tune the car.
I did ask Hellion about RHD and they said they weren't sure but said they felt it was a easy fix. Any Aus cars here on Hellion?
Is the Hellion tune not as Good as the Whipple , or is it more a case of a Turbo requires more work ? I guess as you change the boost on wastegates, you need to change the tune.
A whipple is fixed boost unless u change the pulleys so it makes sense tune could be specific to install.
What does attract me to Hellion is same power on less boost. Means better reliability ?

Howzit, I’m an ex CT boy now in Sydney. I’ll be over there for NYE! There is a local SA crowd that do the Shelby mods and tunes, they may be worth contacting.

FYI you dont need tunes changes to change boost. tuner tunes for high boost setting then the computer adjusts as necessary on lower boost.

that being said, turbos do have alot more parts so there is more room for potential issues. if you are mechanical and can work on it yourself, no big deal. If you are paying someone i think i would have to vote for whipple.

i chose turbos since they make more power at same boost, my car isnt a DD so i wont be wracking up miles on it to test reliability and most importantly, i can do any/all work myself if something comes up
