What will it reduce my oil consumption?

I have plenty of posts dating back to spring 2016 regarding all of this. I believe I was one of the first owners to even notice oil consumption in an old thread titled "my voodoo is using oil" or
My dealer wants inside my voodoo!!
. The dealer took my word for it without any consumption test ( it was using a quart every 650 miles back then which was long before Ford announced that a quart every 500 miles is acceptable) and found the defective valve seals. My car is now in storage so I just sent them the oil log from the last 12 months last night along with the oil pressure sensor tsb info as I would like that checked in the spring.

I've suspected valve seals for awhile. which, in the grand scheme of things, is such a small issue. Even with good seals a certain amount of oil loss is still acceptable. Id rather have one that uses some, than none!

We've all talked about oil consumption and I think everyone knows I've been pretty vocal about the subject. NORMALLY I'd be that guy and say start driving the thing and spin it up! But a quart every 150 miles regardless of driving habits is not acceptable.

I agree 100%. I just think the easiest, most pragmatic approach would be to fix the actual issue and not replace a good engine; devalue the car.

EDIT to add: if the engine was damaged due to low oil, that's obviously a diff situation.

Changing the oil pump internals will void the warranty.

Having the dealer put in a Ford Performance part will not void the warranty

I took it to Cowles Ford in Woodbridge, VA. They gave it an oil change, marked the dip stick and put some dye in the oil to see if its leaking
anywhere. They told me to drive it for 200 miles and then return for a checkup.

I did that, returned and they checked it. No Leaks, Compression is fine, no noticeable oil burning (white smoke) there is excessive soot on tail pipes.
So they calculated I used 1 1/2 qts in 220 miles. They called this Excessive oil consumption. they sent the data to Ford. then 3 days later
Ford said they are going to replace the engine. I am going to see if other dealers may have experience doing this, they told me at Cowles
that they have never done it.. that scares me a bit.

Interesting. So they didn't complete the 4 week oil consumption test? I'm in the midst of one - first week documented 1+ qt in 370 miles, still have 3 weeks to go but since car is in FL and I'm in NJ, the next reading won't be until 1st week of Jan.

They added oil to mine after the first reading. Sounded like they wanted to replicate the first results 3 more times.

OP, so you are going with the engine replacement? Any chance Ford will do a buyback for your 2017? I imagine the resale value will really take a hit with the engine replacement. Hoping for the best for you man.

so why would the resale value take a hit? are the engines Serial numbered to the Car? if that's the case then ford should pay to restamp the number.
Ford will not buy back the car. unless the Lemon Law is used. that requires them to replace the engine times and it still did not fix the issue.

Yes the engine block is stamped with the partial VIN number. People say numbers matching really doesn't matter, but if this ever happens to me, I would find a way to get the new block stamped or buy the old block back and rebuild it myself.
