Yeah, there's been other info posted about some other kind of moly additive or similar someone put in their Boss 302 after the BBQ Tick showed up after an oil change. Not sure what ticking thread that comment was in.

If you do get some kind additive to try, by all means let us all know how it worked out.

Liqui Moly is a german company (i'm originally from Germany) and it is a brand that I trust. If I can't find the additive from Ford, I will give this one a shot. But I will do more research before I dump this into my car.

If Motorcraft still supplys it then the Ford dealership should be able to order some. If it's not shown in the dealership's parts catalog anymore, then iit was probably a discontinued produce.

I found XL-18 but I don't know what it is actually for. XL-17 is discontinued. LOL Ford can't fix the issue anymore... Can't we find out somehow what the XL-17 really was, maybe there is something similar to replace it.

I'm going to test Liqui Moly Ceratec. Let's see if that is any good. Maybe Snake oil, who knows.

UPDATE!
I just came back from the dealer. I talked to the technician.
First thing he asked me if I had a tune. I said no, it is all the way stock (I didnt mention about the X-pipe. It is the only thing I have).
He said, he found that the intake timing is advance by 20degrees. when he kills the vct solenoids the ticking stops. He reported this and now he is again waiting to hear back from Ford!

Hmmmm. The dealer also locked/diabled the VCT solenoid and there was no change to the noise.

I put my OEM exhaust back on...ticking can be heard even better...exhaust excuse from dealers is BS...mine goes back on the 20th

I put the liquid moly ceratec in today. Afterwards I started the car. The tick seems to be completely gone. I have to do further testing eapespecia in the parking gatage at work but there was no tick today at all.

No, I think you misread, the ticking goes away when he kills the vct

The ticking will also come and go with the AC on and off ... so slight changes in engine load can cause it to appear or not. Too much rod side clearance like shown in the the video I linked to in post #349 above can do that.

You guys with ticking engines should be cutting the oil filter open at the next oil change to check for any abnormal debis. Mostly if the ticking is getting worse with more miles.
