The car is a daily driver, and when i'm not at home the wife uses it to take the kids to school sometimes, so the idea is to have the beast tamed for daily driving duty, and then be able to swap the pulley and upload a map (i'm using HPTuners) and take it to the track (road racing) for some fun.

Im realistically only looking for around 530-550whp for daily driving and then around 600whp for the track.

I like the whipple for its efficiency claims mainly, so my biggest criteria is temperatures and durability, not out right horsepower. I want to keep the boost as low as possible to keep the temperatures as low as possible.

Is the whipple the way to go? Or am i barking up the wrong tree? Could i even get a large enough pulley to bring the power down to those levels?

Thanks!!

In terms of drive-ability, my paxton supercharger literally drives stock until I mash the pedal and boost starts to build.

I have a Whipple S2 with default tune so it's about 630hp at the rear wheels.
Honestly you can drive it normally all you want. Just when you let the revs go and hit it hard does it feel like the space shuttle.

yep - under normal driving you wouldn't know it's not stock other than a little bit more noise it makes.... which is awesome by the way.

But when you put your foot into it, dear lord... hold on

Too bad you want to use HP Tuners because with the Whipple calibration you get what they call flight control programming where you can reduce power by gear in seconds. do a search here on flight controls and you will see.

I don't necessarily want to use HPTuners, its just that since i've already got it, it would seem a waste.
Also, even though the drivability feels like stock, i would rather run a larger pulley to spin the compressor slower for less parasitic loss, and less heat.

Understand and your in luck because HP Tuners is compatible to modify the Whipple calibration if needed. I have the Whipple cal and will be using HP Tuners to make cam profile changes. Remember Whipple calibration is packed with feature and safety features most don't have and the boost by gear power control works very well and is what you are asking for.

Whipple sounds like the way to go for your specific needs. When I use flight control on my gen 2 stage 2 Whipple- I can get it down to as low as 480whp and 390 ft lbs on 93.Within a minute's time I can change it back to full power and push 700+whp

Excellent! That's good to know. Definitely sounding like the right kit for me!!

When you say track, what kind of track are you talking about? Drag or road course?

Just so you know, daily driving in the 3.75 pulley, my heat exchanger fluid doesn't even get warm. If your not building boost all the time, which daily driving you shouldn't be, heat should be fine even with a smaller pulley. Iat2 will even go lower than MAF iat if I'm sitting in traffic too long.

If you want to take it down a notch in power, that's mostly throttle control and the flight control makes that easy. In HPT you could set the pedal map tables to a Max of 75% or lower, the by gear stuff would be a bit trickier. Sounds like you are better off with the flight control. Tune changes with HPT would be a minute, changes in flight control are seconds.

Who has the best price on the stage 2 Whipple Kit?
Lethal Performance usually does. The also have 2 big sales at least a year giving 15% off Whipple kits. I would call them and ask.
