So after working pretty hard in 2017 i was able to establish a 3k throw away fund for my gt.

My gt is totally stock except for my Corsa catback. It's a base model. I want to do some upgrades that will overall increase the driving experience while keeping it well balanced

I like when a car feels tight and my biggest complaint with the gt is how soft the brake pedal is . I know it has big brakes that are effective but you really need to get into the pedal. Another complaint is how jerky the car is in 1st (it's a 6s auto) after coming yo a stop and then accelerating there is a noticable jerk.

So far I'm thinking one of Ford's power packs, the pp strut bar, maybe steel brake lines and some cosmetic stuff.

Anyway I'm still learning about mods so any help is appreciated. Thanks and happy new year

Steel brake line, LT headers, (you pick-I like Kooks and AR's) Ngauge flex tune if your year can do it.

Strut brace, some bigger sway bars, headers, and Lund tune.
If you had any money left, some shocks/springs.

2. GT PP shocks and struts $300 new
3. BMR CB005 Cradle Lockout $220
4. Steeda Billet rear shock mounts $200
5. FRPP Strut tower & K-brace kit $190
6. Ford PP2, Livernois or Lund tune $600-700
7. Upgraded brake pads $200, G-LOC GS-1 for instance

1-4 are my go-to for most people who want improved handling and control without a sacrifice in ride. As a system, together, they are wonderful.

Hi, congrats on working hard and saving up some mod money!

I more or less have the same setup as you (stock plus Corsa Sport catback but have parts waiting to be installed).

Which gears do you have? I have 3.55s and really like them. If you have 3.15s, a gear swap (the whole pumpkin would be easiest) would help. I think they run around $800 or so but not sure.

The Power Pack 2 (around $650) seems to be the best bang for your buck and provide solid results while maintaining factory warranty.

Reducing wheel hop is also a good and inexpensive mod by using the BMR CB005 ($220).

I bought a set of used performance pack struts and dampers for cheap here on the forum ($120 I think) and will add BMR Springs BMR lowering springs 082/089 (about $220) to them. I also got some Steeda Billet Rear Shock Mounts (about $220).

If you have the Pirelli all season tires, ditch them, they are terrible. Shortly before Christmas Walmart had a sale on Michelin Pilot Super Sports, which I took advantage of, dunno if its still on.

Regarding brakes, the GT standard 4 piston front brakes - I think they are actually Brembos - aren't too bad but if you want more and affordable stopping power, consider upgrading to the 6 pistons (Ford Performance Six-Piston Front Brake Upgrade Kit ), about $1,300.

Cosmetic stuff...whatever your heart desires. There is so much out there. So far, I only installed the OPT7 LED Arrow Turn Signals with Switchback + Sequential.

Whatever you decide, enjoy (and start saving for next year)!

Flush your brake fluid from time to time, which should give you some of that solid pedal feel back. Dealership will do it for ~$100, or you can do it yourself.

Skip the stainless lines, they won't do anything that a flush doesn't do for you.

Ford Power pack 3 and a spoiler. Headers if there was enough left. The last is if I was you, though. Headers would have me way too loud for 70 miles commuting and wife happiness.

If you want to tighten up the car a bit and take your GT to PP or levels beyond than post #4 by BmacIL is what you want. Minor suspension corrections has a kit will do wonders especially if you ever decide to take the car to a track. Holiday season is over but there are some great sellers here and sending a PM wouldn't hurt maybe getting some change taken off the price. Team Beefcake, Steeda, BMR, and others usually are willing to cut a deal.

The Mustang is a great platform which I personally believe is more than most of us need. Those that weekend warrior it or take on the track of course need more and Ford did a pretty solid job giving us all room to tweak for our own comfort.

I've personally gone the route of BMR, Ford GT350, and Steeda parts to dial in the suspension and couldn't be happier. Some very friendly and knowledgeable people here so you came to the right place. Best of luck and I vote tweaking the suspension since you already have exhaust covered.

Steeda lowering springs, Performance pack sway bars and then save another $7K for a Whipple.

Call me a downer, but kinda pissin' into the wind here given that we don't know exactly what OP intends to do with his car. "increase the driving experience" . That's the first piece of the puzzle and it can mean different things to different people. Maybe the driving experience is on the road course, or maybe a drag strip, or maybe it's cruising the boulevard impressing the dollies, or putting on a show at cars 'n coffee. Very different things needed for each.

I have 1,2, and 4 from the list BmacIL provided waiting to be installed on mine. You can piece together the parts from the PP Brembo brake kit off Autonation or Levittown for less than the $1200 it retails for, but not a bad idea to try an upgrade in pads first. What about a set of wheels and tires? It’s a large portion of your budget, but it makes a big difference visually and in your day-to-day driving. I’m looking at a set of P51’s as an eventual upgrade.
