so whats the consensus on this. has anyone except op actually swapped intakes and how are they liking it? i dont really race, just daily with spirited runs but im never spinning to redline and would prefer more power down low than more power up top since im rarely getting that high anyways

I dont get why people dont just buy the sensor that fits it.

Orders cheapest one on rockauto or anywhere.

I wouldnt mod the intake so that if you dont like it you can always thrpw it back up forsale.

This is exactly what I'll be doing...once Houston is clear.

Because it is more than half the price of the manifold.

Going to tap mine this week at work then plug it with a bolt. Ported the throttle body opening nicely and smoothed out the edges in the casting . Going to take down some of the Injector bumps before I put it on. Not going to touch the actual ports since the cmcv flaps are part of the ports when open. Hopefully will put ok soon. Might go to local dyno make a pull with stock intake then swap in parking lot to this one and make another pull to see if there are any real gains .

This is definitely intriguing.

Since I have a Procharger there is plenty of power up top. Doing an F-150 Manifold + a wastegated Procharger could be the best of both worlds...

I doubt Lund will tune for it though. But I am definitely following this thread and may ask them in the future.

Getting rid of the flow straighteners

You really think adding those wasn't on purpose? They cost money in tooling and a little bit of material compared with a plain, round opening.

Wait why wouldn't they tune for a simple intake manifold swap?

I wondered that myself. Most see it as restriction but Ford likes to play numbers games too. However, they also have to balance fuel economy and emissions as well. Sometimes they rob Paul to pay Peter.

That being said, I wonder what the list of differences are between the F150 Coyote and Mustang Coyote. Reason I ask is the engineers find a problem and create a solution to fix it until they have what they want. Maybe something on the F150 required those flow straighteners whereas the Mustang won't. Only way to know for sure is dyno them both.

I get the concept of what they do but is it worth it on a Mustang? Does it need less turbulent flow or just more flow? Hard to say since these guys are literally writing the book on this without the help of the sophisticated CFD modeling software that Ford has.

The Mustang IM has flow straighteners too. They have a purpose and most of us aren't just living at 4500+ rpm and WOT all the time.

True but the intakes are designed different and there may be other subtle differences between the two engines like camshaft profile that may invalidate the F150 CFD model. Not saying you are wrong, just saying it is hard to tell. The flow straighteners may need to be moved to optimize flow on a Mustang.
