Ok, usually thats all it takes. As far as i know, there is no further mechanism that keeps it in place. All i had to do, was to pop the chrome ring off, take the 2 screws off, take off the shifter and push it thdough the boot. Sorry to hear about youe troubles.

3 minute mark here shows it well

I finally got my WM garage shifter knob installed with the manual shift boot on my base 2015 GT. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Installation was a breeze outside of fiddling with securing the boot.

It definitely takes a bit more effort to shift through the gears but it feels fine to me. I might take it back apart and spray some more silicone on the inside as someone else mentioned.

The only other thing I will mention is when in Sport if I shift back into drive and wait a second it will lock up and force me to push it again to go into neutral. If I am in Sport and move the shifter fast I can go past drive into neutral in one motion. I don't think it will be a problem for me.

The manual shifter boot is the ticket IMO. Hoping WM garage comes up with an etched P-R-N-D-S ball to give an even more manual look.

Two questions

1. How are the ball's luster and finish holding up? WMG said that Chrome could fade over time.
2. Where are people applying the silicone spray?

I wish they would just sell the bottom piece so we could add our own ball. I have one from my old car that I would love to stick into my EB.

They can't remove the shift ball because it's hollow and part of what makes the shifter work.

My attempt at pin-striping and I just noticed I didn't take off the plastic cover off the stripe. Looks kinda off and a bit crooked. For now it is fine but I'll redo it on spring break.

What part of the assembly should one spray with silicone to help smoothen out shifting gears?

My Satin Black shifter has arrived from the States.

Quality and finish is very nice and as previously mentioned in this thread, feels solid with a nice weight to it.

Ilja was great to deal with.

This will be one of the first mods once my Mustang arrives.

Black installed with manual shift boot

Only took about 15 minutes, more tedious than difficult. PS disconnect the wiring plug on the corner nearest the steering wheel, and DO NOT tug the bezel too hard pulling it off. There is slack but not a ton to get your hand in there even

But now I see why they give you 4 screws (2 extra). Tiny little screws and facing forward on the shifter in an awkward position. Whoever thought of that design (instead of the screws facing the side) should be shot. I definitely dropped one in there; oh well.

PS you will need to ziptie the OEM manual boot around the top around the metal stalk just below the bottom "lockout ring." The hole at the top of the leather is far too large and will just slip off- it wont sandwich in between the black plastic piece the goes on the stalk and the bottom "lockout ring." Just make sure you have a zip tie or wire or whatever you want to snug the leather up.

PPS- the little star looking bits in the screw bag one goes on each screw before threading it in. They are on the OEM screws too if you look.
Hey so how did you imstall the manual boot to where did you have to glue it?? I'm having trouble with that. I can't figure out where I should glue the bottom part

If you are using the stock manual boot you don't have to glue anything. You do have to secure the top of the boot to the shifter shaft. I used a zip tie to secure it. I replaced the manual shift boot with one from redline goods before installing the wmg knob. I used the CJ Pony Parts videos for installing the alcantara shift boot for detailed step by step instructions.

Has anyone attempted to ask them if we can swap out shift knobs? I would honestly love a dragonball shift knob haha

I sent them an email about it back in october and this was their response "Right now we offer shifter with solid mounted ball which can't be replaced with any other balls available. We will be working on replaceable ball soon but it will be different design."

Anyone have an update on this? Going to pick one up but if this is right around the corner I'll wait

American Muscle carries these now, you might be better off asking them as I'm sure they are on it. I was surprised they did not originally design it with a standard thread, but bought one anyway knowing I just wanted white.
