All I will say is the WMG knob is worth the money in my opinion. I had one of the first ones and sent it back for the recall and had it back within a week. It is well crafted and I think it looks great!

I was looking to get one with a auto pattern engraved on it. just got this response from WMG.
"We currently working on making engraving on the ball as pony and prnds pattern but right now we are not offering these options.
The shaft is as short as possible right now. All switching mechanisms are inside the ball so without cutting the metal shaft inside the OEM shifter assemble you can't make it shorter".

guess this answers some of the questions brought up on this tread.

ok,
i ordered a Sickspeed adapter and knob(red ball with PRNDS engraved in black) and the manual boot and bezel. Got the bezel today and should have the adapter Saturday. My question is where does the spring go? does it slip over the original shaft, so it can be installed without taking the whole thing apart by just removing the knob? waiting to see the adapter before I get the spring in case it's not needed.
thanks

I bought the sickspeed one just to get a look at it. It didn't use a spring.

I bought a shifter on eBay to test fit it first and I was going to have different one built on a cnc based on the concept of the sickspeed one. The sickspeed piece is thin aluminum and has a slider inside that is very thin aluminum. To me it's cheap quality but the concept is pretty good. There is a sleeve that a threaded pin sticks out. I noticed that when the pin is screwed in tightly it can cause the sleeve to pull outward and make the outer shifter part to rub and get tight. When I remade mine I made the inner sleeve out of stainless and much thicker and the outer shifter part I made much more to look like the factory one would look. You can see in my picture. I put a spring inside mine and it sits perfectly on top of the inner sleeve and works exactly the way it should.

I suppose you don't want to have more made for sale? or the name of the place that made it for you?

I paid a lot for that piece and nobody on this board would pay the price. It's not that I don't want to sell them it's that there would be no market.

Remember I had it custom made on a cnc. It was more like double the WMG.

ok, you made your point. thanks anyway. i do like the look of yours better than the sickspeed or WMG, but $300+ is a lot. maybe you could see if enough folks might be interested and get a better price from the CNC shop. Just a thought( I used to be a salesman before retirement). I'd might be a customer.

I'm one of those people that will pay the price to get what I want. If there were enough buyers I'm sure a vendor with a cnc here on this board would make it it at a reasonable price. I like the WMG piece but you can't switch knobs and I think it's too skinny for my taste. The concept is great. It looks like one of those cartoon ray guns to me.

The shifter on left is original that I made and the other is revised and shorter.

for those who did the swap, my stock auto shifter has little imperfections, (bought used) if someone has one they want to get rid of that is more in mint condition can you pm me a price you would want for it?
