And this whole 'they couldn't afford to pay ADM' is very Rennlisty to me. These are Mustangs, not Porsche's, BMW's, Merc's etc and the ilk they attract sometimes. One of the reasons why I no longer have a GT3 is that I didn't want to be associated with that pompous crowd. To me a Mustang represents real people who work hard for what they have, play hard and enjoy life. Not country club Ted who looks down his nose at the help. Take that attitude to Ferrarichat.
I think you're lookin too much into it man... in Europe BMW's and Mercedes and the like are plentiful. C classes are used as taxis for petes sake... they're just an ordinary car over there. But over here, we perceive them to be "upper class" and it is the perception along with the quality of course that gives a brand an image.

If someone is buying a GT3 to brag about it or to look down at others, that's an individual who bought a car for the wrong reasons... associating a negative stigma with a car because of individuals personalities is foolish at best.

Technically speaking, you're doing the same thing when you say "these are mustangs", denoting that they are somehow less deserving of people's praise and affection that other marquees often get. How are you to know that someone less well off cannot afford a mustang and dreams to own a new one one day? You are portraying the very attitude that you are speaking out against.

You can agree not to like ADMs or to not pay them based on principals and that's perfectly fine. But those who insult those who did can come across as nothing other than jealousy.

Guys who were bent over with a $10,000 sucker tax just can't believe that this gentleman is unable to find anyone willing to pay $10,000 less for one that is described as "virtually brand new". They call it "sucker tax" for a reason.
Thanks for contributing - you could have done that as whatever your main account is - you don't have to be afraid...

I think the reality of the situation is that Ford should have MSRP'd the R to around $75,000 from the start. The $68k MSRP window sticker is just too enticing, once you see it, you want it at that price.
True. People didn't cry bloody murder when the price went up $2k for 2017, did they. People just don't like seeing the people who are making money face-to-face. That extra $2k goes to Ford, all good. If it goes to a dealer, which is the one you directly pay, it seems more real - and all of a sudden people are upset. The psychology behind this is very interesting, lol. First world problems, for sure.

So what? It seems like you're the one doing the labeling here. In your mind, you're creating two categories of people (when it obviously isn't that simple), one group you like and one group, you don't. You might have to accept that you cant expect an entire group to act and think just like you. I can imagine you're eliminating a lot of friends with this thinking.

How they tell you how you should spend your money and how it matters to them but doesnt really to the person that makes it and spends it as they want, specifically an ADM? Haha...man...must really hurt these fellas. Doesnt hurt me one bit.

Agreed. Don't tell me how to spend my money. Leave that part to me.

I do not support ADM. Having said that I am pretty certain that those that paid ADM of any value could afford it and if they can't/couldn't, well, then they have much more serious issues like being car poor. I had the chance to buy an R way back in the day at MSRP. I most definitely was not willing to or could afford to pay 20-30K ADM for an R. I passed for a track pack because of my situation at the time, mainly the back seat for the kids. I have since sold my track pack and bought a used R for MSRP. Is the market getting soft? I do not think so. If an almost 2 year old car can pull in MSRP price, well, that speaks for itself doesn't it? Are cars going to depreciate the more they are driven and the more times passes? Sure! But that is not the definition of a soft market. A soft market would be the new 6 GEN Camaros which are selling for well below MSRP to include the flag ship ZL1. That! is a soft market.
I was able to find a ZL1, new, on Autotrader for almost $9K under sticker in 30 seconds. Now there's a flaccid limp dick market.

i think you hafta bump down to the GT to get that feeling lol...this forum is completely different even between the models. hell, sometimes i wonder what I'm doin here, half my shirts don't possess sleeves:cheers:

on actual topic though, I'd have a very hard time in my head paying MSRP for any used car...HOWEVER, that's the norm for these. I've seen used R's listed higher than brand new ones...so maybe the ADM didn't bother these guys because they were able to partially pass it on to the next buyer

This is one of the best posts that I have ever read on any internet car forum. Spot on my friend, could not possibly agree with you more.

Your kidding Right??

I own a GT3 and a GT 350. So am I pompous or do I work hard??

You sound a bit pompous with that general statement.

OK so we've gone from ¨Selling my 16R¨ to debating ADM fees to disparaging German car owners in one thread...and I thought the GT350 was fast.

Why would you sell a car based on what some people stereotype the owners as? That sounds pretty weak.

I paid 10k over for a used gt350r (has 160 miles). Of course, I would have preferred to have paid MSRP. Or for that matter, I would have preferred to have gotten it for free. But, I paid what the market dictated. I searched country wide for an avalanche gray with black roof black stripes with electronics package. Never found anything close to MSRP, new or used. I could have ordered an '18 for $5k ADM, but Ford apparently will not offer Avalanche for 2018. Plus, I did not want to wait that long for a gt350r.

Thus, I feel like I paid the market price for the car I wanted. Don't get me wrong, no one wants to overpay. But, I do no understand the folks that think dealer ADM's or even used over sticker prices are somehow offensive. If MSRP was the "correct" or "just" price and should never be varied from, then why would we ever have the right negotiate below MSRP. Take the ZL1 mentioned above, is it right or just to ask a dealer to sell the car below MSRP. Well of course it is, because thats what the market bears. Shouldnt it work the same way for prices over sticker? (note that I really respect dealers that honor MSRP, but dont blame those that sell over sticker).

I am very pleased with my gt350r. Amazed that it handles and feels so much better than my 991 turbo s and 991 GTS. Thats saying something. If this car feels as good or better than cars that cost twice as much, doesnt that mean its worth what we are paying (10k over for example)?

Anyone who says that folks are suckers for paying over MSRP on these cars is simply misinformed, ignorant or incapable of paying what these cars cost. Don't mean to be harsh, but any poster who takes that position must fall into one of those three categories.

And I am a Rennlister as well. While there are a few bad apples, as there are everywhere (see this thread for example), I find this forum and Rennlist to be by far the most informed and helpful (and opposite of pompous) forums out there.
