I can't handle this thread.. This is Mustang forum but just turned into Rennlist (Porsche Forum). Too much goodness in one thread.

My good buddies at Vorsteiner have the same color GT3RS.. Such a sweet ride.. One day.. Let me know if you ever want to add some parts like they did to theres! :)

While I'm not in the market for an R and never have been (I want a DD, not a weekend toy), I disagree with your thinking on pricing for this car. This place is like an echo chamber where people that either have one or want one egg each other on about how great the R is and how it's worth the large ADMs that dealerships are asking.

Well, maybe that's true for a new never been titled or modified R, they are great cars and I really like them. That said, over 82K for a modded used R with 1,400 miles is, IMHO, ridiculous. I think he'd be hard pressed to get sticker with that roll cage in the car. When I saw the roll cage pic my 1st thought was "Yeah, no thanks. I wonder what else was modded?" I'm pretty sure that was the reaction of a lot of prospective buyers as well.

Sorry Donson, I'm not bagging on your car. It's a beauty and I hope you can get what you need out of it for the GT3 RS purchase.
You can't daily drive a R? Who knew?!

Show me where I said you can't.

I could, but I wouldn't. Do you DD yours?

I wouldn't DD an R for the same reason I wouldn't DD a GT500KR or Super Snake - some of the parts are stupidly expensive to replace, accidents happen, and finally, people are dicks.

I owned an '09 GT500, an '11 GT500, a '13 GT500 and a '14 GT500. I DD them all. Work, grocery stores, dept. stores, malls, even drove them to Walmart and parked them in their parking lot (although that always gave me the willies). So I do have some experience DDing apex Mustangs. I really only had a problem with the '09. Got rear ended at a stop light and for whatever reason it was a door ding magnet. No matter where I parked I'd get a door ding every month or two, hence my above comment on human nature.

Would you drive your R to go to work or shopping or the movies and leave it out in the parking lot with that carbon fiber wing and those carbon fiber wheels? Heck even the ABS plastic front splitter on the R is supposedly expensive to replace.

At any rate, we both know that the vast VAST majority of Rs are going to be garage queens that see a few hours here and there on weekends. Heck, the same applies to the majority of the plain old GT350s that will be sold. You'll see them up for sale starting in another year or two, "garaged, never seen rain, 2K miles."

I think the people who will pay 20k adm have them already. Used ones are not going for over 80k any more and that is with very very few miles. Additionally I don't the R are as rare as people thought they would be we are looking at over a thousand at least.

I think the rich guy willing pay anything to own a car is a myth, they exist but are so rare they aren't really worth considering. You don't get rich tossing money or if the window

There were articles in '15 stating R production would be 10% of the 350 run. So far it seems to be a little less, but think it will balance out to be on target in the end. Right now we're sitting at 607 R models to date and somewhere around 7,100 350's. Around 100 Rs off pace of the 350 number.

Currently, I use Grundy, but I'm looking to switch to Geico; which now has classic car insurance :ford:.

Geico has given me the run around for over a month on getting CCC for the new Shelby. Good luck. I've called, emailed, and even gone to a local agent... everyone keeps saying they won't insure the new Shelby as a "classic car," and that "collector car insurance" is not what they offer.

If you succeed with Geico let me know, because I think they're full of it.

I also got a quote with Hagerty and they were only a few bucks cheaper than a regular insurance plan with AllState. I'm beginning to think I basically have the best price I'm going to have for the coverage I want.

We had Geico for all of our cars (2cars and an SUV) so I called and asked about adding a 16' GT350. The price they came back with was so high that it made me shop all of our cars.

Went with Hagerty for Shelby and Travelers for the other cars.

If you've been using the same insurance company for more than a year or two, shop it

Gieco can go stuff it.

I have AMIG. You can choose from 3000 mile a year plans or 6000 mile a year plans. If you're going to drive it more than that, regular insurance might be a good way to go. There are limitations and you need to you find out what they are. I had to add the ability to drive it to work 1-2 times a week. They also didn't want to let me store it at an exotic car storage facility but I got that approved. (doing construction at house soon, so don't want the car around).
