Do you find it really helps with acceleration/traction? I heard it's probably the best bang for your buck and great things about BMR, going to do it soon. Haven't actually bought them yet. Did u get it off American Muscle? How difficult is the install?
i got mine from LMR after ordering it on AM and sitting for 2 weeks with no shipment. LMR had it to me the next day with free shipping. But yeah, off the line if you're really getting on it it gets rid of the wheel hop. I don't notice any on mine anymore, but that's just me. Also, it makes the whole rear end feel like one solid piece and gets rid of the floaty, mushy feeling it has stock.

Does a tune actually make it faster? Or just help with shift points? Just picked my 17 GT up a few weeks back, love it so far. Probably going to enjoy it these year before installing BMR lockout kit and a tune.
Yes, quite a bit.

Another nonsensical thread. Mid 12 second cars that have lack luster acceleration?? What exactly does your 2003 GT run?
ly

This thread is not about 1/4 times and racing like so many of these comments go to. It is about bottem torque that is fun to have most of the time on the street. Unfortunately the GT just does not have much in stock trim. There are a lot of cars with more pull in these lower RPM's on the street. I would love to feel how a tune would help. BUT, this is a very expensive drivetrain to throw the warranty out the window. Too expensive for me to chance.

I am upgrading from a 2003 Mustang GT (3.73/5-speed) and have driven a used 2014, used 2016 and new 2017 all GT PP (3.73/6-speed) to compare.

Comfort wise I like them but what I'm finding, and wife confirmed, that the acceleration is lack luster. The 2014 with aftermarket mufflers/JLT CAI/Bama tune and it seemed to have a lot more acceleration similar to my 2003. I can feel the power kick in at 3500-4k but off the line or slow rolling just wasn't impressive.

Obviously on pure numbers the S550 will smoke my 2003 all day long in all aspects. The "wow" factor and the push back in the seat just didn't feel like it was there. Is this a normal feeling and what are some of the reasons? Would simple bolt ons like cat-back, CAI or tuner help get that feel or is it just the "comforts" of the car?

Thanks!

I've own a 2003 Mustang GT with a 5-speed. What you're feeling is the low end torque of the 2003 Mustang GT. The 1st to 2nd shift will give you the push back in the seat sensation, but the 2015+ GT would immediately walk the 2003 GT from a dead stop.

I have no issue with the acceleration of my Mustang but I am a little fussed about why Ford didn't address wheel hop of their own accord and instead left an obvious flaw to aftermarket to fix. Steeda's alignment kit and the BMR lockout or the steeda 3 point frame brace should have been stock to address wheel hop and subframe alignment inconsistency which should have been obvious from any testing.

Not you again with your part throttle nonsense. Your probably a fascinating, nice guy. But I think I'm adding you to the ignore list.

Oh definitely, no argument that it would walk it easily! I was just disappointed it didn't have the FEEL of the '03 in terms of the push back. I don't want folks to think I'm putting down the car especially since I'm actively looking to buy one.

They had the same issues with the 03/04 Cobra IRS as well if I recall, so it does make you wonder why they didn't address it in these.

Wouldn't "locking" it take away the damping of the springs making the chassis twist or take more punishment?

Springs don't damp. The shocks (dampers) damp energy.

Locking the cradle down transfers a very small amount more vibration from bumps into the body. The biggest thing it does is prevent the cradle from moving vertically, longitudinally and laterally in response to power as well as road inputs. It's a pretty big improvement in performance, both in a straight line and for spirited driving/track use.

The one thread was too fun though
Takes all kinds. I've driven every generation of Mustang out there. And with the exception of the S197. Nothing pulls as hard as the S550. In any RPM range. This crazy talk of how a new edge or an EB "FEELS" faster just tell me peoples but Dynos are broken. Look at the zero to sixty time of every generation! Or compare zero to sixty with an EB. All your feeling is inferior suspension with the older cars. There isn't a lack of torque compared to older models. There is just more polish with the S550.

Stick with the 2003 GT and it's 260 HP or buy another one. The acceleration is not lack luster and wives can confirm that :headbang:

Good Luck
