Hey everyone,

I’m new to the community but have been a lurker for a while. Looking to purchase a used 2015-2018 GT 6-speed with PP1. I can tell the wheels of a PP1, but want to make sure it’s not a base GT with PP1 wheels.

Are there any other visual signs of a true PP1 that don’t require me running the VIN at a Ford dealer to be sure?

Thank you!

out side look for the 15" rotors with 6 piston calipers. Under the hood look for a cowl brace. and inside look for the center section oil pressure and vac. gauges, Yhere are more things but those are the easiest to spot.

If your looking to buy used I presume you’re going to get a Carfax. You should also get an Oasis report from a local dealer. The Oasis will tell you the options on the car.

I am fairly new to the mustang world, but purchased a used 2018 PP1 this spring. I believe the wheels, brembos, and rear spoiler, will be the outside hints. Someone correct me if wrong.

Imma say the gauges on the dash, if the brakes fill the wheel, strut tower brace.

If you can see daylight between the brake disc and the barrel of the wheel, it is NOT a PP1.

Still run the VIN no matter what, it's something you want to be sure about. Some people have added PP parts on to a base car after the fact, and I wouldn't want that.

Gauge pack
GT strut tower brace
19" black thin spoke wheels
6 piston brembos/15" rotors
No spoiler if it's a PP1 because a spoiler delete is part of the package unless it was added back on
Functional hood vents
3.73 gear ratio (The diff housing will have a sticker for this but the door jamb also has a Ford code that indicates which diff it has)

These are your indicators

The brakes say brembo on it. The rear diff has a stamp that has 3.73 on it

DO you have a vin? There's vin decoders out there that'll tell you for sure.

Sounds like a PP1 though. The brakes are huge and the base brakes will definitely be obvious. They are 4 piston fixed calipers.

Larger front splitter
0.75in lower

Larger sway bars
Upgraded shocks.
255 tires up front

By nature, I always seemed to look (in passing) to see if it's a 4-pot, or 6-pot brakes.

for 2015-2017 the front lip spoiler is also bigger. They also did not come with a wing like the 2018s do.

and none of them came in automatic for 2015-2017.

If you can swing a 2018, go for it over the prior model years IF you’re not emotionally attached to what the front end of the vehicle looks like... some folks are hardcore 2015-17 and some are hardcore 2018-current...

I’m just saying that with perspective to getting the most car and bang for the buck....

Thank you all for your advice. I’m out car hunting as we speak. When I find one worthy of buying, I’ll let you all know. Thanks again! The info has been extremely helpful.
