Ahhh....I smell double-clutch ;)
I never liked the smell of a burned up clutch.

The unit are rated on torque never horsepower.

So the question is: can it handle (insert number here) torque?

Furthermore, when transmissions are rated for a certain amount of torque that number is also coupled with a gross vehicle weight rating. When the MT-82 was listed people bitched about the 369 lb-ft torque rating completely overlooking the 3,000+kg GVWR.

Ford F-150 Raptor’s 3.5L twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6 makes 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, with a GVWR of 7,000+ lbs and uses the same 10 speed transmission. GM uses similar transmissions on their performance cars, like Z06, ZL1, CTS-V, etc. with similar hp (650hp+-) as the estimated GT500.

GT500 has always been more of a drag car (which works better with auto), that can do a little track duty. And then Ford has a different NA / manual transmission model for autocross/HPDE/ (real) track duty.

So currently the GT350 is already Ford's NA great track car for $60k, that competes well.

They just need a higher hp halo car ie: the GT500. That will still handle any track duty. It might not be as light or well balanced as the GT350, but when it has 700+- hp, magneride shocks, and 10 speed auto, it won't need to be.

This is comparable to Camaro ZL1 vs Z28, or Corvette Z06 vs ZR1. There's room for 2 halo cars in a line up with slightly different goals / price points.

I'm sort of lost what you're referring to here. Only two of those vehicles have the 10sp. The ZL1 and Raptor.

I thought the conversation went to DCT.

I thought he was implying that the a10 or dct will hold the power based on the raptor zl1 and zo6 having a auto. He said Ford needs a car with more horsepower than the gt350 to compete with the higher hp cars like zl1

A dct shifts fast I'm sure but it's probably alot more expensive and complex than the a10. The a10 would probably be better for upgrading to hold more power.

I feel like we could see AWD here. They were testing AWD setups on the new GT, before ditching it because of the added weight. Most people will say mustangs have to be RWD, but the GT350 is still in production. If Ford dropped 700 HP and AWD in this thing they would smack Chevy and Dodge in the mouth.

Would be sick! Maybe 2 versions base (RWD) and Super Stang (AWD)!
Take your pick!

Because it unbalances the car's handling characteristics and requires half arsed "engineered" solutions that don't work. The front suspension on these cars is a perfect example of that. It's a great setup. It's what BMW uses on their cars and they handle well (and so does the Mustang when you remove the wheel/tire imbalance and fix the handling balance with swaybar and alignment changes) but the drive to make this change had to do with Ford's conscious choice to use a significantly wider rear track than the front track AND use staggered wheels for the GT/PP. This meant stiffer rear springs and sways, different rear shock valving, and a whole new front suspension just to balance out the car and even then they didn't do a very good job of it.
LMFAO
Like someone else posted, I don't think the GT500 is going to be for you. The '13/'14 GT500's had staggered wheels as well. (What a car that was/is. One of Ford's Holy Grail's in my opinion.)
You know the S550 GT350/GT350R cars have staggered wheels right? They seem to do really well on the track, no?

This car better have more than 516tq I'll tell you that much - unless it's NA 7L then they might tune it back right at that level
I agree! I would think ford would use the getrag transmission from the ford gt. model 7dcl750 It is rated at 550tq and not the one linked here.
