I have beefcake special stage 2 procharger D1SC with 13 lbs of boost and I am considering switching to E85.

What do you think is safer for the engine 650 whp on 91 plus torco or 750 whp on E85?

Doesn't E85 contribute to cooler operating tempurature (and has higher octane) thus allowing the additional power? I don't think safety would be all that much different really with a good tune. More wear and tear due to 100 more hp, of course. E85 is corrosive so if you're going to be letting the car sit, I'd avoid it.

Yeah E85 burns cooler and has a higher octane and I have heard burns cleaner. I figured an extra 100 hp would be harder on the engine but I didn't know since e85 is so much better if it negates the extra wear from the extra power. This is my daily driver so I don't have to worry about the fuel sitting.

I'm just curious what is going to provide the longest engine life (out of these two fuels).

Lower power and consistent 91 will definitely yield most engine life theoretically. E85 is a little dicey since the ethanol content varies. I wouldn't personally recomend depending on Torco in every tank either.

I'd rather have 750 on E85. Be very hard to detonate on it and runs cooler.

i misread the question and thought it said 93+torco. why not go e85 and turn boost down just a hair. torco is going to add up in cost if you're doing that every fill up. e85 is pretty inexpensive and if it's readily available, go for that.

I have thought about doing that, get a bigger pulley and go e85 at around 10psi or so and make high 600s or maybe low 700s. But I'm horsepower hungry and probably would stay on the same pulley.

Yeah I do a full can of torco every time I fill up and it does add up. I put together a spreadsheet (as most engineers do). Buying a fores system would pay for itself in around a year versus buying the torco.

From my pockets standpoint e85 is a no brainer but since it is my daily it has to last too.

the chase for horsepower sucks haha i hear you on that. e85 is probably still safer with its cooling powers. free horsepower! an e85 station just popped up by me for the first time so i will be re-tuning for it very shortly. just waiting for the weather to break from all this rain.

I pass an E85 station everyday on the way to work plus there are two or three other conveniently located stations around town. Availability isn't a concern for me.

When I lived up in Pittsburgh there was a sheetz just a couple miles from my house that had e85, thought about switching back then too.

E85 works wonders when it comes to preventing detonation. That way all day. If you're worried, you can always have them make you a conservative E85 tune.

Wouldn't say easier, but 100ish more hp with around the same stress.
