Yeah E85 burns cooler and has a higher octane and I have heard burns cleaner. I figured an extra 100 hp would be harder on the engine but I didn't know since e85 is so much better if it negates the extra wear from the extra power. This is my daily driver so I don't have to worry about the fuel sitting.Doesn't E85 contribute to cooler operating tempurature (and has higher octane) thus allowing the additional power? I don't think safety would be all that much different really with a good tune. More wear and tear due to 100 more hp, of course. E85 is corrosive so if you're going to be letting the car sit, I'd avoid it.
I have thought about doing that, get a bigger pulley and go e85 at around 10psi or so and make high 600s or maybe low 700s. But I'm horsepower hungry and probably would stay on the same pulley.i misread the question and thought it said 93+torco. why not go e85 and turn boost down just a hair. torco is going to add up in cost if you're doing that every fill up. e85 is pretty inexpensive and if it's readily available, go for that.
the chase for horsepower sucks haha i hear you on that. e85 is probably still safer with its cooling powers. free horsepower! an e85 station just popped up by me for the first time so i will be re-tuning for it very shortly. just waiting for the weather to break from all this rain.I have thought about doing that, get a bigger pulley and go e85 at around 10psi or so and make high 600s or maybe low 700s. Yeah I do a full can of torco every time I fill up and it does add up. I put together a spreadsheet (as most engineers do). Buying a fores system would pay for itself in around a year versus buying the torco.
From my pockets standpoint e85 is a no brainer but since it is my daily it has to last too.
I pass an E85 station everyday on the way to work plus there are two or three other conveniently located stations around town. Availability isn't a concern for me.the chase for horsepower sucks haha i hear you on that. e85 is probably still safer with its cooling powers. free horsepower! an e85 station just popped up by me for the first time so i will be re-tuning for it very shortly. just waiting for the weather to break from all this rain.
Wouldn't say easier, but 100ish more hp with around the same stress. So e85 with 100 more HP is easier on an engine then 100 less on 93oct ???
