I removed my Ford Performance oil separators

I had both LH/RH sides this morning-my intention was to drain them...as I have a few times now...but they're such a pain in the ass to service...so I reinstalled the stock plumbing...weirdly, there seems to be more intake noise than with the separators installed...I guess I will sell them, probably purchase a better aftermarket separator setup

I installed a UPR oil separator recently. I chose them because I liked their design and ease of removing the can so it can be drained and reinstalled with ease.

I went with the Bobs. Works great and gets more oil than the others. Also has a nice drain valve so you dont have to remove it to drain it.

I have the JLT 3.0 and i added a drain valve on the bottom and ran a hose down by the sway bar. Super easy to drain and JLT catch can work great. I wish JLT would make one with the drain valve but it is very easy to do.

It certainly does.... After trying several different types, I've kept Bob's oil catch can. It was always able to collect more oil than other makes.... at least in my case. At one point, I had a clear tube on the 'clean side' of the can... I've never seen any residual oil sneaking out of the can.... unlike other cans.

I think they're a pain to empty, as well. But I like that they look stock and work very well. I cannot stand the can hanging from hose look.

Get a Bobs oil separator. They have been proven to be better then all others, especially JLT.

FRPP hard to drain? Four bolts to take the top off and a turkey baster to suck up the oil isn't what I'd call hard to service. Plus the capacity on the Ford part is large enough you really only need to drain it once per oil change (something like twice a year).

It helps to use a allen wrench with a ball end so you don't have to be perfectly aligned on the hex bolts. You don't need to detach the lines at all, just unbolt the top and pivot it to the side.

That's what I do. Pop off the top and use a syringe to suck out the contents. No issues at all. I can even measure the amount removed. 30cc has been the most so far.

I love my UPR. Unscrew the can, empty, screw back on. And it catches a bunch of oil too.

I dunno, to me, that's the definition of being a pain. Of course it's not hard, but a tool-less method to drain, imo, is best. Unscrewing 4 screws... whatever, but then having to use a turkey baster or syringe. No thanks.

Easier to pull the whole unit off than try draining it in that small area.

Agreed. I have the JLT 3.0. I just unclip it and do it on the bench. Keeps the whole area cleaner.
