Whipple belt chirp

My belt chirp went away, only lasted for 3-400 miles then just stopped one day on its own.

My car has the hesitation too but the way I drive I hardly ever get the car to do it.

I'm extremely happy with how the car runs, I haven't taken it to the track yet but it is fast as hell.

My only complaints with the Whipple are they didn't send me out the hardware to bolt the fans up (made my own) and theres two or three holes on my air box lid that were off when they were drilled out. Both of those are extremely minor and don't make the Whipple any less awesome. The one thing I wish I could do something about is how little the Whipple whines, I want it to whine more than and louder than my ex girlfriend. It's a fairly quiet blower.

I can appreciate the frustration felt by those experiencing issues, but must say that Whipple has certainly not ignored these concerns and continues to work towards not only a resolution, but improving their product. This is not my first modified vehicle and I have used other supercharger systems in the past. Each one has had its own minor issues, but I have not dealt with a company with the quality of customer service like Whipple. I am extremely pleased with their product, the results, and the entire experience. I have no doubt that the problems experienced here will be resolved. If I had to do this all over again I would not change a thing.

Make it fairly louder then, remove the sponge inside the sound tube, drill a hole in the airbox, ,connect it to the sound tube and now you have a wine you can hear even with roush ab hpipe res delete at 2.5krpm wot and in some cases not even full throttle you hear a nice wine

Belt noises are coming from misalignment on stock components, coupled with the direction of our tensioner in relation to the idler pulleys, it has no give for misalignment. This is why some have noise, most do not. Either way, we have 2 new designs testing right now. 1. New belt system. 2. New billet tensioner. After we have finished testing, we will update the customers with issues with the appropriate setup at of course, no charge.

Hesitation, some on manuals have felt this, but its just a minor bobble during the transition of vacuum to boost. Its a variance of roughly 10% in available torque output along with cam misalignment. The updated cals, which will be posted this week on the server has a different torque slew and updated cam position detection which eliminates this feel.

Auto shifting. The only issue is in the "optional" high RPM option. This was a unique feature, much more complicated then a manual and just changing the RPM limit since roughly 30 parameters change with the high option. The new cal disables the high rpm option and the standard cal has the high RPM option as standard.

As for MPH and ET, many have posted great times and speeds, an auto will go slower in high rpm mode vs normal. Other than that, most have done very well.

I have had this chirp issue since about the 1 month mark after installation, or less than 500 miles. I have done the "fix," which was the shorter belt, and new routing. Within a few days I had my chirp back, and worse than it was before. Louder, and it took longer to go away when warming up. I flipped my belt, and the chirp went away.

Now I have a completely new and separate noise. It seems to be coming from my water pump pulley, or in that area. After recording different areas of the belt on my phone in slo-motion, I have actually found the water pump pulley to have a little bit of a wobble or play in it. The noise that this makes does not get much louder or rapid with increase in RPMs, and it does seem to go away after a little bit of driving (or I just cannot hear it anymore with increased speeds/engine noise).

This is not anything I heard prior to the new routing or belt. This morning my chirp has made its way back under my hood, it seems flipping the belt only provides about 4-5 days of silence.

Is it safe to assume this wobble in my water pump pulley is the route of this evil chirp?

I noticed on my new engine which has not been run yet just installed it yesterday that when I turned the water pump pulley by hand it wobbles a bit. Seems Ford has made some shitty waterpump pullies. I can't say it's the source of the noise though.

I have no chirping sound from the belt thank god but I do always notice I have some belt residue on the supercharge pulley itself. The belt looks fine and I have had the supercharger on for about 4 months now and put about 3k miles on it so I guess it is normal. I have checked the tensioner and I am at about 70% of the travel on the tensioner. I do also have the hesitation when going from vacuum into boost but trying to be patient on the new cal.

I just ordered a Whipple stage 2. Does anybody know if it will ship with the updated " stop the chirp" parts?

There is a pretty high chance you will not even have any issues with the chirp in the first place.

Well awesome that works! Any advice on install to try and avoid misalignment that may cause noise. I saw where some one used a laser to line everything up.

I thought it was only me. I still have the belt chief with the new one sent out. It doesn't last as long as the old belt tho

The new routing and belt only lasted about 3-4 days before my chirp was back. It is also louder and lasts longer, too. You're not alone!

Same here, I was really hoping the new belt and routing would make the chirp go away. As Dustin mentioned, they are working on it and I have total confidence this issue will be resolved.
