stopped by the dealer to check on my baby. She is up on the lift, valve cover timing cover and all associated components. Due to the limited amount of space for removing the exhaust cam phaser in the head, the timing belt cover had to come off. So all the required gaskets will be replaced to include an oil change. Also while the cover is off, further inspection of the timing will be completed. I was told I might possibly have my car back on Friday afternoon. So, realistically I think Monday for sure, unless, they run into problem! DUN, DUN, DUNNNNNNNN!

My dealer is being very careful as this is the first GT350 they have had to open up. They reassured me that it is a fairly routine task. But because it is the first time they have performed it on this engine, they are taking their time. I'm all for that! Quality not time when it comes to maintenance. I left very satisfied this visit. Shook The Service Managers hand and back to work I went.
FYI - that procedure is exactly the same as doing it on a Coyote.
Good luck!

Never performed this task my self but I did school my self on the internet. All my research shows exactly what you said, procedure is the same. I was hoping the timing cover/components did not have to be removed for the obvious reason. the Less disturbed the better.

Everything will have to be redone all timing belts etc. An engine is an engine so as long as the have the TQ specs etc a Competent mechanic could do it. The hardest part is the timing which on modern engines i usually just lining up marks.

Dealer and Ford experience has been great! Unfortunately, for my engine, it is looking like it will be replaced. The motor was reassembled and cranked to discover more knocking. They pulled the filter and found metal shards. Waiting on the Ford approval for the engine replacement authorization.

Sorry to hear that..tough pill to swallow. Another member on this forum posted last week Ford was out of complete engines and was offering him a short block. Different circumstances and with metal going through yours, they shouldn't offer just the lower end. Be prepared for a backorder situation. Sucks...

Folks keep saying this car is made for the track. You need to read the small print in the warranty information. The occasional HPDE event is OK but it says if you race your car, Ford will not be responsible for damaged caused.

If you regularly race your car, I would not say a word about that anywhere.

If you regularly race your car,,,,
commit to a complete tear down and rebuild with components that can stand up to it.

Could you share a link to the post/thread? I'm currently waiting on a dealer to diagnose my engine problem (which I assume will need to be replaced) and I'm trying to consume all information I can find on other engine problems/failures.

Good luck you guys, that really sucks. Mine is now using over quart every 1000 miles and my service manager wants me to bring it back this week. I'm a little more worried now......

Why is the word RACE even being used? I do not know of anyone on this forum using their car for actual racing. It is pretty clear to me if you use the car out of the parameters of the warranty, you basically screw your self. Point in case, the latest in the Mustang meme saga, Texas GT350 owner destroying rear axel in an attempt to look cool caught on camera.

I hope they take care of you!!

Im surprised the dealer did a short block with out making sure everything else was in good order. That sounds suspicious. Everything that would knock is in the shortblock unless its coming from the head.
All that was done was replacement of the exhaust cam phaser. The dealers actions are guided by Ford. They are following maintenance manual and Ford directives.

Ah gotcha. I might be mixed up threads in my head. A new engine is probably better you will have more faith in it.
