Agreed!!! And probable smoke trail. My initial description was very emotional and the more I think about the noises being made after doing research, it most likely was knocking.

Guys I really think that you can't take it personally about how cautious ford is in these situations. Think about it....a new engine for this car is $22,000! that's just for the engine! Don't forget labor and some additional gaskets and hardware. They need to have certain protections in place. How many forums do we still see, in the year 2016, asking if a tune affects warranty, or hey, can I swap my PCM if I put a tune in and blew my motor? can they "tell"? Ford doesn't want to write that check like its nothing. From the dealer perspective, they want to be 100% sure that ford approves it first, or they could be stuck with the bill. A little discretion is best here. A warranty is in place and it basically is a promise to you from the manufacturer, that hey, this product will work in the conditions we designed and engineered it for for this certain time/mileage period. In this day and age, the concept of "personal responsibility" is going by the wayside, and you have to bet that everyone tries to take advantage of it at every juncture. Much like the modern mortgage approval process where your poked, and prodded, and made to feel like you suck and are a criminal, its just the way things are these days. If you have an issue, follow the advice here, be calm, take it up with ford and your dealer, and don't scream from the rooftops or blast them on social media!

I have no problem with cautious. I do have a problem with service guys and others from Ford actively being assholes about it though.

My car. Bone stock. 4k miles. driven as Ford Performance Intended. I started this thread to alert the community of a possible engine failure and to get details on the repair/replacement process. The INDIVIDUAL service rep is the turd here, not Ford. Making assumption of what I do with my car is absurd! I am speaking with the SM today to inform him of his employee's lack of tact. I have no qualms with Ford protecting them self's from warranty abuse or fraud but DAMN!!!! No worries, the data will show no abuse of the car. Why in the hell would I abuse my BABY ; )

On a side note, I wonder what the Ford warranty group would deem as "abuse"? I mean are we talking evidence that a car was literally thrashed? Or if you drive the car hard can they come back and accuse it of being "abused"?

Some on this this forum have eluded that FP is aware of the tracking of the car and that they are ok with that. However I have never really researched this. I would hope that building a track capable car that the warranty covers as such. If it is covered it has definitely not been publicized the way GM has with the G6 Camaro and its warranty for the track. I do know that the supplement covers track preparation , so one would think that track runs (without operator error or abuse) does not void warranty

Ford offers the Track Attack and beats the piss out of this car on the track day in and day out to show the 350 owners what it will do on a track and how to drive it in that environment. We were told, verbatim, to be sure to rev it up to 8200'because Ford wanted us to see what that was like and what it would handle. If this isn't an endorsement from the manufacturer to track the car, I don't know what is. I'm very confident tracking the car will not prevent your issue from getting addressed. You're just dealing with an ignorant tool in a franchisee's store at the moment.

Car is still in the shop bay and may not be troubleshoot till Wednesday. Called FP to get some insight on the OBD2 P0015. To no surprise, they have no definitive answer as their are to many variables to take into account. FP did say that P0015 "is not a good code" and could be as simple as a cam position sensor. Crossing my fingers that is all it is!!!

we had one with a cam phaser code, not sure if it was that exact code, and it was a broken wire at the connector.

That is one of the possible failures that would trigger the code. If the ECM does not get the proper response from the position sensor it triggers p0015. Hope that's all it is. Thanks for sharing.

Aren't the 5.2l and 5.0l interference engines? If a cam broke or slipped or did whatever and its interference, I would think there would be noticeable sounds from that, if it would even run. If it was still running at idle maybe you will get lucky and its just electrical or in the phaser or something. Good luck.

After my initial freak out, and when I started thinking rationally, there would have been serious damage if the timing slipped. No smoke, no oil. Really rough idle when it was running. I really do think its just the sensor but you never know.

Sucky news!!! The motor is opened up and the dealer has contacted Ford/FP. A team is coming out to inspect the engine. Its going to be a while!
