Once again, my V6 gets overlooked.. which only confirms to me that the Cyclone is not long for this world in a Mustang. Sad day.. but i'll be keeping mine a very long time as I LOVE IT!

Well it has my CDC Spoiler, CDC Side Skirts, and the hood from the GT-H as well as the grill. The Badging is generic and why would I want GTE across my back panel? Plus its got PP Wheels. I could make this car visually for just a few grand in parts and paint. Not worth $18K IMO, even with the performance upgrades which give you PP and some bolt-on's I could buy again, or thousands less. I understand its a "Base" model, but really???

Why so many people hating on Shelby? They pour tons of resources into the Mustang which can only benefit us on how certain add on look and perform.
Because Shelby USED TO BE about performance. This is what Shelby is about now --

  • Shelby GTE hood & vents
  • Shelby GTE upper and lower grilles
  • Shelby GTE rocker panels with carbon fiber accent plates
  • Shelby GTE rear spoiler
  • Shelby GTE striping and badging
  • Shelby GTE front grill emblem and Shelby c-pillar emblem
  • Rear GTE emblem
  • Shelby GTE dash plaque
  • Shelby GTE head restraint cover set
  • Shelby GTE sill plates
  • Shelby GTE serialized dash plaque and engine plate
  • Backlit Shelby GTE door sill plates
  • Shelby GTE headrests
  • Shelby GTE floor mats
  • Shelby GTE engine plaque
  • Shelby GTE engine cap kit
  • Shelby twin disc clutch kit
  • Shelby multi-gauge cluster
  • Shelby engine cap kit

And this is all probably someone else's off the shelf parts --

  • Carbon fiber body components
  • Convertible light bar
  • Painted Or raw finish:
  • Hood and rockers
  • Mirror caps
  • Tail light panel
  • Spoilers
  • Rear diffuser
  • Splitter
  • Interior seating upholstery upgrade
  • Rear seat delete kit

A bunch of add on body crap, and a twin disc clutch(which I am sure is not theirs). Too many thousands of dollars for the car to says "GTE" in 20 different places.

The go fast parts are Ford Performance -- that is not the result of Shelby pouring "resources" into the car.

The better question is "Why are people still in denial that Shelby died with Shelby? They put tons of off the shelf body kit parts on the Mustang which can only gouge the customer and does little for how the cars look and perform."

Seems like a lot of money for what you get. At least the Roush Stage 3 (a little more at $19,500) comes with the 670hp supercharger.

To be honest it's not a bad spec car. Bunch of Ford Performance handling and sounds like the PP2 installed. Little beefier performance pack GT.

Got the carbon fiber hood of the Shelby GT to lighten it up a bit. Those are $2k alone without paint.

I would be a good deal at $12-13k, with the supercharger at $20k to match Roush. Its way too pricey at $18k for mostly cosmetic.

It's basically a GT-H you can buy and not rent.

Yeah, but it's Shelby American. Would not buy.

I was disappointed in the number of badges showing it was a Shelby GTE! The rocker stripes and the circular one on the rear behind the side window, as well as the rear of the car. It should have at least one on the hood so I know what it is when I approach from the front. (sarcasm) No deal for me.

I find this confusing, I fully expect the standard 2018 GT (which is not that far off) will have similar if not more power and torque than this thing does, how are they going to sell any of these once that happens ??

Nope.

Nope, nope, nope.

I've got 727 HP on tap with my GT Premium/Roush set up and it was out the door for $44 even a month ago from a Ford dealership in Salem, OR.

I love the look... but compared to my much cheaper rig it would be much slower and much more expensive... and the name and the look itself aint worth the extra $10G.

I think most of the people were _very_ enthusiastic about Shelby (hard not be being Mustang fan). Just everything that has been released off S550 was - to say it straight - a disappointment. Cosmetically it was at least highly questionable at the price point where it made no sense, Ecoboost GT was purely ridiculous, Super Snake was a departure from what happened in the past that has been seen as just going after the money.
My absolutely personal opinion was that Shelby American had a lot of love within Mustang community that isn't there anymore after all recent releases. None of them lives up to Shelby's name.
When Carroll passed...that is when it became more about money rather than the passion of the car.

I like it, just not $18k worth. That hood may find it's way onto mine at some point
