Just returned from a trip over to see my good friend Chris about this. I asked him if we could dive back in and see what else we could do.

We changed some of the data in the module configuration (not simply an "enable" or "disable" prompt) and the checksum worked itself out and were able to shut the "sound enhancement" off. The car seems a little quiter, almost as if the exhaust from outside is muffled slightly. Or I'm losing it.:)

I also wanted to enable "dark car mode." In essence, much like the way it is done for law enforcement sometimes, the interior lights stay off when you open the door to get out or when entering the vehicle. It took three tries to come up with the correct sequence and now I have it.

I took some screen shots of the numerical sequences we used to edit the AB numbers and I'll get them up tomorrow.
That's awesome Epiphany!
Please provide as much info as you can for turning off the 'sound enhancement'.
Thanks -again

Is it an actual audible sound or is it a frequency that you cant hear designed to cancel out some exhaust frequencies?

Fellas -

I apologize in advance for my ignorance here. I've read that the thread but having a bit of a tough time following.

If anyone has any free moments today, would it be possible to outline what we need to do to turn on the trans temp gauge? I see some numbers, but I assume that I don't just click 'on' :)

My car is at the dealership tomorrow for a separate issue and I was going to ask that they turn it on.
So if you're seeing the numbers, Matt's post #47 in this thread is the key....
At Address 720-06-01 change the code to 7F6D 8664 9EA2 for the Trans Temp Display.

Conversely, let us know if your dealer does in fact turn it one for you!!

That's been my concern since the reports of limp mode started coming out.. damage to the transmission due to running hot, effects of multiple limp modes...
Very much appreciate the info from all
The limp mode is in place to prevent damage not cause it.

I don't know- I've read that it's noise cancelling & also that it is sound enhancement... Whatever it is, I just want to be able to control what's coming through my speakers....

Understood Zitro! However there's no literature on the affects of multiple limp modes that I've come across..if you have anything, it would be much appreciated. My concerns have been affects of prolonged high trans oil temps on the transmission whether or not limp mode is triggered.

Damn, i finally got the temp to show on my iphone with my KIWI3 OBD reader and Fusion APP, and now this comes out after spending $120 !!!!:frusty:

I'd much rather have the temp showing in the center stack than on my iphone, more practical and OEM.
JN66 it'll be interesting to see what your dealership says when ask if they can turn on that feature.

If you get a positive answer, i'll be getting mine turned on as well.

Either that or get another OBD reader and do it myself.

I have a Bluedriver OBD module. I don't think it will support what we are trying to do with Forscan, I'll check tonight and verify the compatibility. The Bluedriver software is easy to use and displays a lot of data. For diagnostics and code resets, it is a great tool.

So I'm guessing with the Forscan application you can just get a cheap wifi OBD2 ELM327 device. Like this?

There's an endless number of scan tools and programs out there. There's a much, much narrower quantity that can actually modify module configurations. To my knowledge, that's just Ford's IDS, ForScan, and for the Focus there's one called Focccus.

The Focus uses an alternative configuration storage method called "Central Configuration" which basically stores most variables on the BodyCM as a single long value rather than in individual modules themselves. Be happy the Mustang stores it like it does.

I will for sure. I just need to understand it a little bit more. I suppose that Ford can access this info - what do I show them to 'turn on'? I'll just sit in the shop with them and direct them. Just need the steps and I'm on that shit tomorrow.

I like to disassemble things.
All they have to do is access the appropriate module, as built or otherwise, and input the data listed earlier in the thread. Some of the changes only require you to click on enable/ok (or disable/ok).

It is highly recommended to stick with the Bluetooth device I showed at the onset of this thread and to avoid the wifi units.
