I wasn't willing to take a loss on my tech pack trading it for a 17+, so I'm keeping it. Eventually buying the transmission and rear diff cooler FP offers. Right now I'm running a custom trans cooler. Love the car, pissed I have to deal with heat issues on a track day. Gotta pay to play I guess.
The 16' track packs and 17'-18' constantly cycle fluid in the transmission. The rear axle is temp controlled.
You can set up a temp switch to trigger the relay but I only use it if I'm tracking the car or on a hot day so I didn't feel the need to try and set that up.
I made cuts on the straight bits of the line with a pipe cutter, staggering the cuts so the fittings didn’t hit each other.
I don’t have the L bracket part # off hand.
The relay is tricky, but not hard to set up. You’re better off buying an all weather relay and mounting it somewhere in the...
Tracked it today. Was consistent at 190. The last session it went to 210, but I think that was because I forgot to turn it on the first lap. Was in the hight 70's. Id call that a success. Just need to change the Diff fluid now.
Thanks everyone. Picked up a lot of info on this forum so I'll try and share as much information as I can. I ran into a number of road blocks for sure. Tools being limited, it was a struggle to make a bracket, and put the fittings in the hose. It's doable with hand tools and a little bit of...
Just wanted to make a quick post about my Transmission cooler install.
Parts I used:
Weldon Racing 9200 pump
OEM Cooler
OEM forward lines
Earls hardline to AN fitting
Aeroquip (2) -8AN straight push lock
Aeroquip (2) -8AN 45 push lock
Aeroquip (2) -8AN 90 push lock
Aeromotive (2) 1/2 NPT to...
I too just recently installed a cooler kit on my own. Very similar install. Good work. I ended up not drilling into the body at all, utilized the front engine frame to mount the pump (weldon 9200a pump). I used Eaton/Aeroquip socketless fittings and socketless blue hose. Purchased 15' and...
If you use the factory diff cover, add some quick disconnects to the cover to ease the changing of fluids and prevent cross threading/wear on the threads. Planning to do this on my Transmission.
Given the space available and the tools at my disposal I chose to go the stock cooler route. I picked up for forward portion of the stock cooler oil line and will be modifying and re-flaring the ends to make it a JIC acceptable fitting. This way I only have to figure out plumbing from the...
I will be documenting my install thoroughly. Including wiring to help other members out. A lot jumping around on here to find all the info you need.
You can use a NPSM female to NPT female then NPT to 8an. Not sure if there is a direct NPSM female to 8an fitting in existence.
The cooler fittings are actually GM quick disconnect fittings (Dorman 800-603). I purchased the bracket for the cooler line, and the forward section of the line and the bolts to attach it because I may use them. They are not needed if you want to run AN lines from the cooler to the trans. I...

The kits purpose is to be used with the replacement transmission. It gives new bolts for the drive shaft, lines, cooler and all the other parts needed. You can purchase just the parts you need from Ford and set up an external pump and manual switch setup without swapping transmissions.
