200lbs lighter car = nimble.. Come on guys. I know you love your EB because you paid money for it but 200lb isn't going to change the characteristics of a car up front THAT much and it certainly isnt going to make up for 100 extra HP.

True but you have to ask yourself are to looking for a daily cruiser or are you looking are to build power and maybe raise hell with it. When I get my EB convertible payed off I hope to buy a GT to mod and maybe race but not because I regret having a EB Mustang but because that's a different want I have.

Depending on the setting, sure it can. In an autocross I would take a tuned EB. The more tight technical turns, the more that 125lbs in the front end makes a difference. The farther that extra weight is out from center, the more dramatic the impact.

Here is a good technical article that compares both cars and shows the differences between the two in the turns, straights, braking, etc.

http://speed.academy/ford-mustang-gt-v8-vs-ecoboost-track-performance-review/2/

They are two cars for two different people. However, even for track use, which most people never take their cars to, the driving characteristics are slighted by different driving styles however the GT is still going to be the quicker car with proper driving unless you have really short exiting which the GT can't wind out the powerband.

Get a base V6 and procharge it with all that saved money. Then you'll be faster than both :D

...but as many have said, I would go for the base GT over the premium EB. You have a solid motor and a very nice, functional and comfortable interior with the base. You can always change your interior around over time, which is easier than changing an engine.

Still looking
V8 no question. Nothing else would do for me, anything else and I would be filled with regret. Then my wallet would be empty due to money lost on the trade in to the GT.

My only debate is base or PP V8?

Has anyone faced this decision before? If I go with the ecoboost I will be tuning it and getting inter cooler and intake and it would have leather seats heated cooled better stereo etc....but that v8 is so tempting ....anyone with base can you comment on the cloth seats and if it's worth it to go with the ecoboost for the better interior .... Thanks
Questions for you to ask yourself with no need to reply publicly . . .

How aware are you of any car's interior when you're driving? On a scale from 1 to 10 where 1 means you don't notice it at all and 10 means you're constantly aware of it and that any shortcomings it might have are constantly annoying you. If possible, try to split your thoughts on seating out separately from everything else. Do this for the car you know today, because on a test drive in a new car you'll be learning where things are and that might skew your perceptions.

How much performance would you willingly give up to get a "better interior? For that matter, define what "better" means to you (it doesn't necessarily mean "more").

Personally, I'd rate seat comfort above seating materials any day. Seat comfort - or shortcomings in this - is something you'll be stuck with . . . and what's best for you can go either way.

Yes that is true that you shouldnt make decisions based on anyones opinion.....but then again he is asking on the forums for that.
He's apparently looking for thoughts based on experiences outside his own.

It does hit the ego pretty bad because honestly we all bought a mustang to show off just a little bit.
Not necessarily. Trust me on this.

But it is hard to step outside oneself and see things from a different perspective.

Maybe harder still to present thoughts to others without bias . . .

I would suggest you test drive both and see what you like better. There is a difference, and you might just like the extras the preminum offered. For me it wasn't a matter of economics or power, it's what I liked better, and I liked the EB. Like many on here you might feel different than I but 310 HP was plenty for a DD.

My final, and well founded opinion, if you want bolt-on 5.0 power, get a 5.0.

Don't make the assumption that a 2.3 with 450 wheel is as good as a 5.0 with the same power. NA> Turbo any day. Trust me, I know.

If you are comfortable with about 350-370 wheel HP you can:

a) bolt on and void the warranty on the ECO

b) Buy a GT

I had fun in my eco. I got to push some things and do something new. It was a real attention getter at the track.

That being said I am more happy in my headache free GT. Not constant monitoring, no never ending datalogging, no worry about taking a trip across country (fuel concerns). I will have a solid 450whp car that will act stock, be maintained like stock, and not have any turbo lag. If I want 600whp I am only a small nitrous shot away, and not a 10k investment in aftermarket parts and motors.

I was in the same boat. Chose the GT base(also chose to keep my SI as a daily). It was actually a little cheaper (not much) than the premium EB.

My main concern would be reliability and resale. This 5.0L seems to be tried, tested, and true more than the newer EB. And gas mileage depending how much you drive. Or care lol. Although having the extra premium features would be a huge plus if your into that.

Most importantly TEST DRIVE! Don't go by what we say. See what suits you best.

I did. But I'm also an idiot when it comes to cars, for whatever that's worth.
Im an idiot when it comes to cars too… 2010 Mazdaspeed3, 2014 Sentra, and now this 2015 Mustang.
I got rid of the MS3 because after a while I just got really tired of it’s looks and the behavior of the car, it looked like a high school boys car and I hated the turbo even though it was pretty fast.
I got rid of the 2014 Sentra because it was so slow and on a trip it really struggled to climb uphill.
Then I got this 2015 V6 Mustang, probably the best looking, most fun, and fastest car I have ever had. This is the first time ive owned a car that turns heads.

My next car will most likely be another Mustang, will be a V8 and MUST be a stick shift. Will probably wait for the S650 if they still offer manual. Yea yea I know I keep switching cars.

For me I would opt for the base GT - it's all about the power for ME. If you put cosmetics BEFORE performance then go w/the fully-loaded Ecoboost...but I will tell you this - the first time somebody smokes you at a friendly light-to-light encounter you will be second-guessing yourself about not going with the Base GT.

Just my .02

I'm with 99% of the consensus get the GT. I've got a base. You can make it your own. I did the leather takeoffs ($400) and ambient lighting ($70). Plus I added exhaust, wheels, and suspension stuff. I get looks everywhere I go. I've got a lot of the premium stuff minus MFT but I've also got a car that I paid just over $30k for.
