I was becoming more concerned with IATs, as summer sets in. So I'm taking steps to lower them. My first was putting a rubberized undercoat on the maf housing (aluminum) and trying to prevent heat soak. This did help and the temps drop down quite quickly too. But that wasn't enough, so I decided to make a cover. I've never worked with lexan, so it's not pretty. So I picked up some lexan, angled aluminum and weather stripping. The lexan was the most expensive part. I made a cardboard template and cut my lexan out. Made my mounting brackets out of the aluminum and random hardware. The hardest part was knowing how much heat and where to put it, to mold the lexan. This was not an easy task at all. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but it should make a noticeable improvement. I'll also be attempting to make my own big mouth intake. In the last pics, it's not screwed down, so the gaps are exaggerated. This should also help keep the cool incoming air isolated to the box, rather than just blowing into the engine compartment.

Duuuuuude if I still had a garage and your airbox in hand I could router you out a cover that fit perfectly.

Subbing for results. I don't think they're going to be very drastic, but I do want to actually know.

Still have to heat the lexan and mold it. That's the difficult part.

If I can get 10° lower while sitting in traffic, I'll be happy and faster cool down at low speeds.

Heat soak has dropped a good bit. The temp lowers pretty quickly after start up and not moving, when it sat for about 5min. Cruising around at lower speeds(35mph), the Temps stayed 6-8° of ambient. Before the cover, I'd have to get up to 55-60mph and stay there for a few minutes to get within 10-12° of ambient. Running interstate speeds(70-80), I was 4° within ambient. Before the cover, the best was 8°. So far it's looking good.

Should also stay cooler a lot longer when idling at traffic lights. The airaid on my 2013 got up to 140* IATs fast when sitting at lights in summer. I'm definitely going closed box on my 2016 either the Injen or Afe most likely.
