My Uncle who used to paint cars said that paint doesn't adhere as well to aluminum like it adheres to steel. Could this be part of the issue with the ease of chipping on the aluminum hood?

My dealer sent the pictures to ford. They recommended against painting the hood for the paint booger that popped or rock chips. Too difficult to get the stripes to line back up and paint to match. Just to air brush, sand, and repeat to put down a few layers of paint. Once it's level seal it with some clear coat.I asked my dealer to fix my rock chips. They said they would only respray the hood. I refused.
Where did you take in in San Diego? Would you recommend them?Mine went in for clearbra with 7 miles. Already had a few chips.

Marketing could spin this. It is about less weight. More performance. Less drag. Yeah... That's the reason.Thin paint is probably done as a cost saving measure as much as anything. When my car gets detailed I am going have them put a paint thickness meter on it and see how thin it actually is. Another reason why I am happy to have a Xpel ultimate clear vinyl done on the front clip
Wondering the same. Anyone ever remove it from their car?Can anyone speak to what happens when this product is removed? Will it peel off the vinyl stripes or cause them to lift?
