Tom,
I see you are swapping brake fluids to Castrol SRF. I ran Sebring pretty hard with the OEM brake fluid without any issues. I was going to stick with the OEM fluid but I see more and more people changing. Just curious why? Is the OEM fluid not sufficient? Thanks.
Looks like someone took a 4-cylinder eco-boost base car and put the R badging and aftermarket R wheels on it. A washer or dryer comes from the factory with a defect and it gets sold for less at a wholesale store. This dealership wants to make "extra" money off of the defect. Funny stuff....
I got my GT350R (as well as all my fleet purchases) from Bozard. They are a good dealership. Don't wrap over dirt. My salesman and I personally washed the car and performed most of the PDI (minus the front spoiler). I'd bring a new wash mit or ask them to give you one. They have air hoses...
Do you actually verify all the VINs when you buy a used car? I've never thought to even check. I don't personally expect our cars (even the R) to be really collector worthy. Even the 2000 Cobra R with its even more limited production isn't worth much more than it was back in 2000. Will it...
Update time. Engine is replaced and car is back in my care. I've attached the handful of photos I took of the existing engine. I haven't had time to take pictures of the engine bay but I will try once I get her cleaned up.
Here you can see the hole in my block where oil was leaking...
I think Ford knows the fix. Just remember that they have a full dealer network to support. They have to draft bulletins, review them and ensure their support team is ready to support. They have to ramp up their vendor(s) as necesssry to replace over 8,000 parts. No small task. I'd rather them...
In his original story, he said that the car had three engines and all of them "cried uncle". Then he got the R. So, that means it was going to be four engines total if he wasn't offered an 'R'. What happened to engine #3?
I have it installed but use it very little (prefer to learn to properly heel/toe). It is based on brake and clutch input so it doesn't work that great on the street. It is a great product though. Installation was not complicated but it is more than just a plug/play. They give you everything you...
Check out Hooked on Driving or PDE. They have a HPDE going on for three days straight on December 9-11. I'm signed up. Hopefully my R will have the new engine installed by then, otherwise I will just run my Mazda MX-5 race car.
They have verbally agreed to extend the powertrain warranty to 5 years and 75k miles. Also includes warranty on components attached to engine (A/C, alternator, etc.).
Well, just got off the phone with Ford and they are stating that they do not have any more long block 5.2L engines available. Ford is only going to send over a short block and the local dealership has to move the parts over. Does this sound right? Should I be concerned?
Quick update with some questions.
The casing of the block was "wrong" (I won't be able to get any good photos till it is put back on the lift). The connection point for the A/C compressor was cracked and leaking oil and also causing the belt to have friction. The dealership is trying to...
I did both sets with the Ford Performance look. I like the OEM look as well. I will say that I'm disappointed with the passenger side quality and fit. Ford Perf really needs to go back and look at this one. It shares the same part with the Mustang GT part but I feel that something just ins't the...
Dropped the car off at the dealership last week. They called me today and said it looks like it will take a new engine to fix the breaking belts:frusty:. It appears that where the A/C mounts to the engine is messed up causing the belt to wear unevenly. They have engaged Ford to see if any...
