I've had 3 fully built track cars all with turbos.

After my last car I knew I was done with FI.

I hated going to the track and only being able to do well on my first lap.

I've used meth injection, e85, massive intercoolers, ducting, heat extraction hoods etc etc.

The GT350 has been a blast, lap after lap it does its thing. No heat soak, no cool down laps, no fans.

FI is fun for breaking the law, and just gets you in trouble. I'm a believer in NA now

One thing I really like about the Motor Trend figure 8 is IMO it tests some of the transitional handling that a road course would, but it's also simple enough and short enough to get a good run and better consistency of results than a test that requires a driver to make zero mistakes for 2-3 minutes. I realize it still has some of the variation that comes with testing different cars on different days, but IMO it has less variation than a track time would have.

Bottom line:

The ZL1 needed EXTREME attention in the tire department. I warned everyone here that the z28 had been canceled AND, after that had happened, the ZL1 and 1LE programs were merged.

None of the equipment on 2017 ZL1 was intended to make production. The 1LE package was absorbed once any z28 package was axed.

All of this is preemptive and a reaction to the Demon and whispers of the GT500. We knew every move Chevy was making months before they made it public. If we know, Ford knows...
Except Chevy did not heed your warning. A Car and Driver Article about the upcoming z28

We’re expecting this new engine family to combine aluminum block and head construction, dual overhead camshafts, four-valve combustion chambers, direct (possibly in combination with port) fuel injection, titanium connecting rods, and a flat crankshaft, with approximately 5.5 liters of displacement to produce the target power. Need we remind you that most of those specs also fit a bored-and-stroked Ferrari 458 Italia V-8? Peel your ears to hear Pavarotti serenading from heaven.

Battle of the flat plane cranks. Voodoo is shooting for those power numbers.

Why not, it will be supercharged for that hp. They didn't say the z28 would get that hp.

Getting there will take a few more months. It remains a distinct possibility that the Z/28 could use a 750-ish-hp version of the supercharged pushrod small-block V-8 slated for the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1.

Might wanna go back and read it again. It states it'll be a 5.5 N/A Motor in the Z28.

Besides stating post what #542 said why in the hell would you want a track car with a blower? At least with twin turbos you keep the intake plenum way cooler. Less heat is more power.

Yes, but the supercharged one is the 700+ hp. The z28 will have the N/A while the corvette will get the SC. But both will be 5.5l. Just like the lt1 and lt4.

Read the quote. They said the z28 could get a version of the 5.5L supercharged engine. A version of it will be a 5.5L N/A engine.

Taken right from the article. But do not count the Z/28 dead. To the contrary, Chevy is patiently saving its most vaunted muscle-car badge for the next bullet: a Camaro with 700 or more naturally aspirated horsepower and a chassis capable of spanking the other pony cars at the road course of their choosing.
