Cup 2 are different than Trofeo/slicks in my eyes. If you don't see that no worries.
Cup2 are in the same category as Trofeos. They are very similar. Neither are full slicks either as they are street legal. You can decide which is better, but more cars come with MPSC2 including Z06 with Z07, GT350R, and GT3 RS.

Neither of those tires come on the ZL1 with 1LE package. They are new Goodyears which are also Cup tires according to the media that was released. There haven't even been any tests yet that I know of.

From Goodyear, the zl1 tires compare to the cup 2 and the zl1 1le compares to the trofeo r.
Like I said before if you want to make a car faster put a simi slick tire that barely qualifies for street legal use.
Even the toyo r888(not street legal) has more tread depth than the trofeo r.

Why do you keep going back to the Trofeo R? They don't even come on the ZL1 1LE. You are making a comparison with no data since the new tires haven't been tested yet. Do you have any specs at all on these new tires?

Are you just assuming that they will outperform a PSC2 or a Trofeo R?

And you also just assume that these new magic tires are the only thing making this car faster? The aero, weight savings, and different suspension don't contribute?

I'm sure they slapped that big wing on there purely to make it look ridiculous, just like they do with Viper ACR and GT3 RS right?

Correct as the cup 2 are more of a street tire, better in wet have more tread etc. the PTR has less tread than the non legal Toyo R888. Which is one reason the ptr is significantly faster than the cup 2.

From what I heard the Goodyear spent 3 years of rd benchmarking the ptr. This is why it's going on the new zl1 1le.

You know what? You're right. It's simply the tires that make this car faster than the standard ZL1. Aero, suspension, and weight savings mean nothing.

Let's. The zl1 1le is a sham just like the z06, zr1, zl1, z28 that came before it. Yes the zl1 will be fast yet it won't be as fast as gm and media scams tunes cheats its numbers makes believe. We are talking about a company who's z28 was not as fast as their 12 zl1.

The zl1 1le is Suspension tuning and tires with no tread that's it. Put race slicks on any car and it will be faster. That's all gm did with this car.
The ZL1LE was the original plan for the base ZL1. It was discovered early on that the 2017 ZL1 required MAJOR equipment revisions.

That is why they released a 1LE (1 Lap Edition) for magazine comparison.

Where's the weight savings coming from? The ever valuable sub-frame connections? More structural reinforcement? Have you seen a naked 6th Gen yet? There is absolutely NO sheet metal between the B and C pillars. Zero... a gap exist where metal should be. Only the floor and roof hold the rear section in place at the rear miter cuts. We haven't seen a structure this dieted since the late 60's production cars. What about an AC Delete? Yes, in a ZL1 and AC Delete is mandatory.

Tire... the thing they said the base ZL1 had enough of needed a lot more. The base 2017 ZL1 should have come with 305/325's to begin with.

The A10: Simply put, the LT4/A10 combo runs too hot and will pull power from a spirited driven ZL1 A10. To keep weight, cost and maintenance down, the A10 was excluded.

Whos willing to pay $75,000 for another Camaro? Because even Camaro fans won't pay $75,000 of a "Z/28".

This ZL1LE was reported by thePill waaaaaaaay back... and it was done because:

1.) A 6th Gen z28 doesn't exist anymore

2.) The ZL1LE programs were merged to save money due to poor sales

3.) This ZL1 1LE is literally the "1 Lap Edition (1LE)" and was built to defend itself from the future GT500. Although it won't be enough :(

WRONG! Zl1 always been a high performance all around touring/ weekend track car. GM had no intentions to make a base zl1 just a track focused monster. Its just capable of giving more than what it was planned for with the current platform. What MAJOR equipment are you referring to? What all GM doing with the 1le name is marketing and releasing a little more track focused version of camaros, thanks to the c6 z06, and z28 camaro. Pill you started coming up with stuff out of nowhere again!

ZL1 comes with a/c. I don't know how much of the other Pill information is true either. Truth is Ford has nothing to compete with it right now and needs to get something on the market.

From the article:
The DSSV dampers contribute to weight savings of roughly 60 pounds compared to the standard ZL1 with its magnetorheological shocks.

If he posts something and claims it's true. You have about a 4/5 chance that it isn't necessarily and something he came up with (speculation) or something he's manipulated in a way that has bent the truth a bit.

The tires? Ok cool. Maybe it should have. It didn't. The Hellcat didn't come with proper tires either and most cars come with inadequate rubber from the factory. Not really anything new.

The ZL1 1LE doesn't have an A10 because the 1LE is a manual only trim. Could that change in the future? Maybe. But as of right now it's a manual only trim and always has been. OBVIOUSLY it was done to keep weight, cost and maintenance down. At least he managed to figure that out all by himself. Good job. Gold star...

Plenty of Camaro fans bought the Z/28. The hardcore fans. It was sold out before it was built in the first year of production. Then Chevy got a big head and thought that they could turn a limited production specialty car into a "mass produced" vehicle and it would still continue selling. It didn't. That doesn't mean Camaro fans didn't buy it.
That just meant all the hardcore Camaro Z/28 fans who had deep enough pockets ALREADY bought it and Chevy produced too many. I do agree that it was a bonehead move to produce as many as they did.
Why buy a specialty Camaro at that price which had high upkeep costs and rode like crap on any modern public road when you could buy a rather nicely equipped Corvette for less that actually rides decently and doesn't jar your back? So ok, I'll give him that one. Or at least a part of it.

1.) Maybe. We'll know eventually when the next gen comes out and the Z/28 didn't happen. Until then? Speculation. I personally agree with ThePill though on this. I doubt it will happen.
2.) ZL1 exists. ZL1 1LE exists. What's merged..? Also lol @ "major equipment revisions." Revisions and upgrades are generally what happens when you come out with a "track-ier..?" version of a track car. But oh no... Progress. Must have been something they did wrong. You know... Like the GT350 overheating/going into limp mode if you didn't buy the track pack. But that was ok though right? Working as intended.
3.) GT350/R is a track focused car. ZL1 1LE is a track focused car. GT500 is generally a high horsepower drag/touring monster. Not saying that it won't also be a track monster this time. But once again, manipulation/speculation. Bonus points for coming up with 1 Lap Edition. Edgy.

Plus thinner rear window, fixed and lighter back seat, 19" wheels instead of 20" also helped lower weight.

Basically they took a few of the tricks from the Z/28 to lower the weight and applied it to the Gen6 ZL1...effective and simple.

It depends where you take that 60 lbs from. As most performance variants put weight on in alot of areas as well. Generally in Cooling, Brakes, Tires.

Approximately 50 % of the Demon's 200+ lbs weight save if primarily from seat removal, a nice SCAT pack passenger seat weighs ~ 55lbs, it's rear seat weighs ~ 49lbs.

If the Demon lost 200 lbs and still had 2/3 seats I would be really impressed.

The ZL1 1LE's 60lb savings may be more of a given, with wheel and tire diameter reduction, rear seat changes, and manual transmission. However it does puts on notable tire and wheel width, additional aero.

I would be interested in seeing the weight savings brake down.
