A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. I don't care what a car's called, I only care about its appearance and its capabilities. I am looking forward to seeing what the 18 GT will do, how effective that second track package is going to be, and if there's another halo above the GT350 coming out.

It's because GM has gone full hog on the 1LE name. They brought it out of the dustbin of the past for the 5th Gen Camaro in 2013 and then it got some buzz, so like the SS name in the past, they're starting to slap it on more and more things.

It wouldn't shock me if they come out with a Sonic RS 1LE.
Haha. I mean this is the same as the Z07 package for the Z06. At least that sounds cool.

Don't forget the Silverado SS and the Monte Carlo SS and the HHR SS
I actually thought the Silverado SS was cool back when I was younger lol

Don't forget the Silverado SS and the Monte Carlo SS and the HHR SS
And impala SS, "The SS", cobalt SS, etc etc

With that being said, BMW, Mbz, and audi are slapping M, AMG and S badges on damn near everything as well

It would probably be better if Ford released something like a Bullitt and Mach 1 in the $40,000 range than some $70,000 GT500 that relatively few people would buy in comparison to the rest of the models.
I don't know about that bro.
Look at the '13/'14 Shelby GT500's. Those cars are STILL highly sought after.
I'd buy the new GT500 in a heartbeat at 70K. (Depending on looks, power/torque and performance numbers, of course.) I bet there would be many more right behind me in line.

Certain people are losing their absolute minds over the fact that Ford isn't apparently immediately answering the ZL1 and now the ZL1 1LE.

The fact of the matter is that Ford does not necessarily have to answer it. It doesn't mean that Ford doesn't care or has abandoned performance, simply a different strategy. It would probably be better if Ford released something like a Bullitt and Mach 1 in the $40,000 range than some $70,000 GT500 that relatively few people would buy in comparison to the rest of the models.
Yeah really?
Maybe you haven't noticed how well the GT350 and GT350R sell? They can't make enough of them. Ford would sell plenty of the GT500s at 70-75 sticker. I'd buy one today.

Do tell? Seriously?
As a die hard ford guy ford is lacking big time.
They have nothing to counter punch with.
Chevy Zl1
Dodge Demon
Ford crickets
Ford just created one of the best driving cars on the planet. The 350/R is being compared to vehicles that cost more than 5 times it's price by both journalist and more importantly professional drivers. Hell Porsche has the R at its drivers school!
Ford shocked everyone after the announcement of the first zl1 with the 13 500 which pit paved the best gm could do by more than 100hp!
Third they just took a program from Idea to sale one of the fastest turn around in history and they won Le Mans at the same time. Not one of the manufacturers you mention can even claim one of those accomplishments. Ford has done all three in the last 4 years!

Yes it's easy to sit on your ass and say they don't do anything.

As soon as dealers finish selling the 2015 Z28's they can make room for this to sit on the lot as well
To true! What makes it so funny.

Now that is funny and sad, all at the same time. Ohhh, but we have a hybrid Mustang coming, Jesus, that makes me yawn so hard I almost swallow my tongue. This is getting worse than the Probe debacle.

What are you going to do, release a Bullet with 10 more horsepower? Yeah that's the trick. Oh yeah, maybe next year you'll tell us how much horsepower the regular GT will have.

What the hell has happened to my Ford? Turbo the 350, NOW!!!! Show some damn competitiveness, you knew Chevy was going to do this. You're acting like Hillary won the election and we are all tree hugging greenie drones. You're hanging by a thread here, in your most rabid customers eyes. I've bought Mustangs my whole life, now I'm starting to think I need a change.

And don't say Ford GT. Hell, nobody can afford it and you wont make enough anyway. What are you going to do, only make collectables for your dwindling customers to fight over? A car becomes a collectable, its not born one.
I will. It's a piece of art that won the most grueling most prestigious race in the planet. If you need more evidence of Ford Performance and the quality that's been created at blue oval see above!

To say that MSRP or higher for the GT350's is strictly a dealer/buyer issue, not a Ford issue, is incorrect. There are two parts to this equation supply and demand. Ford limits the supply of GT350's and the price at the dealer goes up. Demand is high and supply is low. Yes, dealers have the option of selling lower, but they don't have to because there aren't enough cars to sell. I've read all the debates about suppliers, parts, etc. Ford is making these cars exclusive. A company that size can certainly figure out how to make more, but they intentionally don't. On the street I can buy a C7 Z51 for less than a GT350 because the C7 is available and the 350 is not. Also, in equal hands, the Z51 is faster.

Ford does not limit supply. Ford is in business to sell cars and to sell all of the cars they produce. If you want a GT350 go order one. Any dealer can. Find that dealer and order one. They will make between 5-7k 350 based on dealer and costumer orders. The reason they don't make more is because many people don't need nor want a 60k two door coupe. It's just not practical.
Ford will not leave 5k units of a specialty vehicle collecting dust even with huge rebates on lots like some of their competitors.

Not all dealers can order a GT350/R. I wanted a R and I was lucky enough to even get a GT350. The dealer must be allocated one. Not as easy as you think.

My beef is that I could not find a dealer that would match USAA Pricing or even MSRP for that matter. Oh sure they would sell it for 10 to 20 K over MSRP. The dealers took a well priced car for the money and placed it out of reach for many. Dodge stopped that practice with the the Hello kitty's. I wish ford would have done the same. (I'm sure some pretentious Shelby owners will chime in to justify why I don't know what I'm talking about but whatever)

Chevy's issue with the the z/28 was that most people spending the money on that type of car still want bells and whistles....I bet they sell a ton of ZL1 1LE's because you will be able to have more choices of options this time.

It's really difficult to get an unbiased opinion on a Mustang board as most are brand loyal (just look at the steeda vs bmr followers here) the bottom line is we live in an amazing time, the cars being made right now by the big three are pretty freaking awesome and there is a car for everyone's taste right now.

Just my $.02

Any dealer could order a GT350. All it took was signed paperwork and $1k per year and the dealer was allocated at least 1 each year. The rest of the allotment were based on mustang sales and or dealer awards such as the Presidents award.

The R is a different story with only 500/600 produced a year.

I paid $5k over Msrp for mine and I'm ok with that. On the other hand another local dealer has a 17 and asking 89k for a non R

Exactly my point 1 a year. That means a lottery draw. Which I was lucky enough to win out of 60+ people. And I happily paid $5k over sticker. I was the first on the list when begging about the GT350. 2 + months later I received a call from my dealer saying they put all the names in a hat and the last name pulled would have first bids on the car for 5k over sticker. I didn't hesitate.

Meanwhile Ford Performance:
You laugh, but did you see the praise the 14's received? In competition after competition both journalist and professional drivers alike swooned over the fiesta st. Beating the likes of Porsche, AMG, M6 Comptetition Pack, Ferrari, etc. Hell Top Gear who hates American cars named it their car of the year over the 1 million dollar Mclaren P1.

Still owners drive the Fist as daily and on track besides the GT4's and GTR's. That's more more praise the last two generations of camaros have received. :frusty:

All you have to do is contact the two bit town in the middle of nowhere which only sells Ford trucks and you have a GT350. Most will sell you it at msrp or at worst msrp plus the 1k to order it

Good for you bud. I don't really get off on cars I cant have. I hope you are making bank. I'm lucky enough and worked hard enough to buy a performance toy, but 400K is far out of the box for normal well above average salary people, I'd rather buy a 150K mid engine vette available car with a V8 when it arrives, and a lot of other people will too.
I've bought and raced Fords for well over 30 years, starting with 351 Clevelands, I'm as die hard a Ford guy as there is. I drove half across the country to drag race my buddies 1970 Boss 302 at the Oklahoma Shelby meet in 1982. I've earned the right to criticize what I see as a big fumble on Fords part.
So when a guy like me says he is disappointed, rest assured they are pissing off the base.

Chevy has 3 cars one of which runs with a 350, and 2 that put a 350R on the trailer. And at least 2 of them are cheaper, and I bet the 3rd is the same or less price as an R, which you have to be more lucky than rich to buy. They also did it in 1 year after the car was introduced. We are 3 years out with nothing but real weak rumors, and, its "going to be a beast" predictions, minimum 4 years out. It had better be. I am certain they are going to lose customers to GM.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for some pics of that 400K unobtanium GT when you get it. Good luck.

Yeah there are a handful of you guys out there but still 5K over msrp....all honesty I guess if I was in the seat I would have paid 5k over but I walked out on a 8k over MSRP deal on a GT350.
