Mind explaining what this means
Certain people are losing their absolute minds over the fact that Ford isn't apparently immediately answering the ZL1 and now the ZL1 1LE.

The fact of the matter is that Ford does not necessarily have to answer it. It doesn't mean that Ford doesn't care or has abandoned performance, simply a different strategy. It would probably be better if Ford released something like a Bullitt and Mach 1 in the $40,000 range than some $70,000 GT500 that relatively few people would buy in comparison to the rest of the models.

I understand what you are saying but the bullit and Mach1 are basically cosmetic.

That's not what I said 600 to 700 hp is getting at the limit. Reliability is the factor the car companies have to deal with. There are push rod engines producing well over 3000hp but it doesn't matter to those people using them if they blow at the end of the 1/4 mile. I simply saying that a OHC engine can produce more hp more reliable at higher hp levels. Check out the 662hp Shelby GT500 of 13 and 14 mys.
You're delusional if you think an LT4 is at limits and/or not reliable at 600-700. That's pretty much in the wheel house for those engines. I agree an OHC would be more reliable at much higher HP, but now you're comparing 650 w/ 662 Shelby. 12 hp and a few lbs it's a drivers race. Both are very reliable at that point.

I know we're talking about the ZL1 1LE here, but,.......I can't wait to see a ZL1 line up with a '13 or '14 GT500.
The GT500 with some mods against a'17 automatic 10 speed ZL1, just to make it somewhat even. From a dig, from a rolling start and quarter mile times. Not just once. A couple races of each just to fully confirm wins.
Once the 10 speed hits the ground this will be a great matchup, but why a GT500 with mods. Should be pretty dead even in a straight line. Road track is a complete different game where the ZL1 would easily win.

The GM folks kill me. They get a badass 6thGen Camaro in the ZL1LE (what I'm calling it) and all they bitch about it not carrying a z/28 badge. If/when GM again has a n/a motor that will meet the desired power levels, there might be another z/28, but there was no way they were going to slap that badge on a s/c car.

Exactly... and the Z/28 would need to beat the ZL1LE on the road track too.

At first I hated this car, the aero looked funny. But now it's grown on me. Starting to dig the front end and I like the blacked out tails from the factory. I don't understand why there is no aero on the rear bumper like the gt350, it just looks too plain to me. I'm excited to see what this can do. This is what the R should have been. The hp is right and yhe suspension is spot on, the best part is that it keeps all the atributes that make it a potential daily driver such as speakers and the ac.

As much as I love the gt350, I have to give Chevy props as this is the right way to make a track monster.

I can't see a way to keep the gt350 n/a and keep it competitive against this. Sure it will still sell out but on the track it will need 100 more hp and at least 150 more ft lbs of tq.

This is the reason for no Z/28. 11 coolers on this thing too care of heat soak and they don't have a n/a engine to compete with it.

Same thing happened with a Z06. Traditionally NA, now FI.

I personally don't care what they call it. It's a Camaro with a massive motor, suspension, and aero that is a wrecking ball on a road course for a nice price point. Interesting that they didn't add the carbon ceramics. Would have boosted the price another 7K though. I personally wouldn't want them.

The only way GM can hit the emissions and horsepower targets for ZL1/Z06 is with FI. The writing is on the wall for big pushrod V8s as it is (sadly). Personally, I think it's pretty impressive that they've been able to milk it this long, but sooner or later they will need a different approach....

Too bad the ZL1 is so ugly from the doors back, seems like a bargain to me otherwise assuming the ludicrous shitpile of coolers are effective.

Seems like a pretty impressive package, should be plenty fast.

Am I the only one who thinks the name is awful though lol. ZL1 1LE?
It's because GM has gone full hog on the 1LE name. They brought it out of the dustbin of the past for the 5th Gen Camaro in 2013 and then it got some buzz, so like the SS name in the past, they're starting to slap it on more and more things.

It wouldn't shock me if they come out with a Sonic RS 1LE.
