Just an update. I decided to listen to the greater forum, as I should have done when I was there. They pushed back but I insisted that I technically (in writing) requested cancellation and refund before vin was created (the day before), and that it’s not my fault the guy who does orders wasn’t there. They pushed back and I wasted some time to see if my other order with the much better dealer would schedule the rest of last week or today/yesterday, but it did not. I texted the sales guy and followed up to my last unanswered cancellation request email this morning saying I want to cancel as originally requested. Got my $500 back.Stay with your current order only if you get a signed contract (as in legal with recourse) laying out the entire price structure and all promises made. Otherwise you are going to be very unhappy in two months.
That being said, I’ll now be stuck waiting for my other order to schedule. I still think it’s crazy that 5 days after placing my first order, it was scheduled. I feel crazy for cancelling, but I agree, the dealer would have found a way to screw me over. The bright side of this is my deposit (which they never actually processed lol) at the other dealer is fully refundable. This gives me some time to see if I can find a 2021 gently used with all the options I want prior to taking delivery. I have a feeling the market is going down (watching the value of my old car decrease before I sold it to them definitely made it look like it), so we’ll see.
