I'm not sure what you're setup is but you can reach out to him and see if he can help.
Im interested in the Wengerd tuning as well with my 10r80, with my main goal being to improve daily drivability (shifting strategy/smoothness) meanwhile retaining the characteristics of each individual drive modes.

What is your personal experience with the normal mode vs sport plus? I want to be able to cruise in normal and switch to sport plus for fun without the crappy shifting in both. Is that what it achieved for you?

I can't believe I read all 7 pages just to find out ya'll are still beating this poor dead horse.
I have a MT 82 because the PP2 didn't have an auto option. Came close to trading for a Mach 1 HP with the 10R80, but after reading about all the horror stories about the 10R80 I decided to stick with what I had and be happy. After all, I am bi-transmissional.

I bought an automatic for two reasons. First, I was concerned that my knees would preclude clutching at some point of my intended long term ownership, and second, while my wife can drive a stick, she prefers not to, and I wanted her to be comfortable driving the car.

The reality, 7+ years on, my knees show no sign of decay, and my wife has driven the car, perhaps, five times.

If I had access to the Wabac machine, I would be driving a standard.

If you want the best 0-60 and quarter mile times the s550 has to offer, get the 10 speed. If you want the pleasure of analog driving and maximum engagement, obviously the 6-speed. An added bonus of the 6-speed is that friends and neighbors don't ask you to "take it for a spin" :giggle: plus, it's somewhat of a theft deterrent.

If you have an auto, you can fool the thieves by putting in a shifter handle like the one from white madness garage or others and change out the boot for a manual boot and it now looks like a manual.

I bought the shorty version and any knob with a 12mm thread will fit or you can buy one from them and customize it anyway you like. You can even have a manual pattern put on the knob if want to really mess with their head.

when you follow the directions from white madness to attach the auto boot to their shifter, just replace it with the manual boot. you have to remove the collar off the manual boot and discard, be careful so you don't cut the leather on the boot.

All in, I spent about 300 back in 23 for the wmg shifter, custom knob, and manual boot. the more engraving you have done on the knob, the more it costs. It was 20 for the PRNDS on the top and another 30 for the mach 1 logo on the sides. This is above and beyond the price for the knob. Multi colors also increase the price, but one color comes free with the knob, of course I chose grabber blue to match the car. under the paint is a solid stainless steel knob that weighs 15 Oz.

If the A10 didnt have issues, I would get it and never look back.

If I was most interested in road circuit track driving, it'd probably be a DCT for the rapid shifts, consistency, smoothness, and keeping the chassis settled.
I understand your point but with my A10 on track the chassis never is unsettled regardless of when or where I shift. For one thing since the trans is sequential the gear ratio change is not even that abrupt.

But I did drive a GT500 on track for a few laps and the trans was amazing in how it was always in the perfect gear during full auto mode.

EDIT: Yeah, my car will step out when downshifting in a corner on track. Not in a worrisome way.
I changed my answer.

Ive had the auto in my 2019 since it was new. Ive been a die-hard manual guy all my life, but it took one good drive of the 10 speed to win me over and i traded in my 2011GT 6 speed for it. There are many days i miss shifting my own gears. However in 40k miles, i havent had any issues with the 10 speed at all. its monsterous - and definitely not like a regular automatic you would experience in any normal 'daily driver'.

And some days i regret it... but when i do, i switch to manual mode and kinda forget all about it. Still though, if i were to buy a new one today - it would probably be a manual again. I just miss the feeling, the action, and the 'connectivity' to the car with it.

Yes the 10 speed is almost a second quicker in the 1/4 mile, but for a daily driver.. does that really matter unless you are only racing? Also the 2018+ version of the MT82 has some very odd gear ratios... the drop from the 3rd to 4th is rediculous.. And yes, there are reports of them being fragile if pushed hard.. but ive never seen one fail driving normally and properly.

That being said, you are going to get a myriad of opinions for and against each.. but in the end, it comes down to what you enjoy - and obviously the choice you make you are going to have to stick with, as a transmission swap is quite involved in these cars.

Not sure if someone has had or driven both manual & automatic. Which one did you look the most for a daily driver?
The knob jockeys will say what they say but it all comes down to context . For me i desired a manual but due to the absolute car park type traffic i have to deal with on a regular basis i went with an auto and have no regrets . If i lived in a more rural place i would have definitely gone manual . Its not a one fits all scenario . I own an old school manual Muscle car that is a literal pain to drive in stop start traffic , this MADE me get a auto GT . Its an Either OR depending on circumstances
