Would this be possible for drive modes?

That may be the case for you but compared to what is available in the modern car market it leaves a bit to be desired.

I know I'm too picky. I'd like to be happy accepting things as is but I'm always tortured by seeing how design could be better.

I've had freinds that were automotive engineers. They have to compete with all the systems within the vehicle, deal with outdated technology in the supply chain, etc. It's not an easy job.
Sometimes you have to just put it out there. Its good enough given the time/budget constraints of the project. You could nit pick every last detail of a car until its perfect and maybe it'll hit the markets around 2030, but no one will be happy with the new MSRP. Lookin at you Toyota Supra...

How would that burst my bubble? I'd be happier with something along those lines. :)

I've seen and used such things in several cars.

My biggest complaint from a safety side is the snow/wet mode. If you want to use that you have to click through the sport, track and drag strip modes. If you accidentally click one too many times you have to cycle all the way through again. Doing this while driving into hazardous conditions is not optimal. And yes, I know well enough to adjust my driving. But the A10 kicks down fast and hard in ever mode but wet/snow.

On most German cars you can scroll both ways and have easy visual feedback up in the lign of site.
If the road is that bad you should probably not fiddle with the dash while driving. Just stop....

In fact, its hard to find a recent review where Sync 3 or the 18+ Mustang is not mentioned as 1 of the best. So no, its not just me and my considerable experience on the subject.
My comparison on the info systems is from experience with Audi, Mercedes and BMW. I think the reviews might be basing their ratings on Ford's marketing materials. The actual Sync functionality that depends on the phone is too buggy to be reliable. The level of the touch controls and eye level placement in those cars is magnitudes better. There is really no comparison. Granted, the other cars do cost a bit more on average. But I don't think the biggest cost differences are associated to that level of design detail.

Anyway, all I really want is a better drive mode selector.

No, it should be as easy as turning on the lights or windshield wipers, at lease for basic mode operation. Well, that is mostly automatic these days.

I'd be okay if Track or Drag strip required the car to be in park. But if it were the level of complaints you see here would be off the chart.

Putting in perspective but these are all first world problems. However, consumers shouldn't be so quick to roll over and accept the mediocre.

Add Lexus and Porsche to your list and you'd have comparisons with my recent owned cars. (Except M-B, almost bought the 2016 C43 with the ipad stuck on dash looking system).

Honestly, aside from a few nitpicks applicable to every system, we have world-class ergonomics. Zee Germans (and Asian copies) went backwards trying to duplicate the ill conceived BMW i-drive.

Lol, I'll be happy if most of you guys aren't in product developmen, design or engineering.

Things can always be better and be improved.
I am...and think its ridiculous. I transition when I desire while driving with NO issues. Could it be better...sure. But it isn't horrible either.

Meh it’s a non issue for me.

What I would like is if my car could start out in Sport Mode and just stay there

Lol. The 300a 18 up mustang does not have the toggles. It is drive or sport on shifter plus advance track settings. Oh and steering feel 3 modes. No problems/crisis/dilemma here. Lol.

Your location says Florida.

Why are you even the slightest bit concerned about this?

I have wondered if the snow/wet mode was there just to please some of the consumer advocate scaredy cats. It might change the throttle mapping slightly but the driver can also control throttle response with his/her right foot.

Hey guys. Having my 2019 on order I can't try it and haven't had my 2015 Mustang GT PP in over 3 year due to it being a lemon so I can't remember if it worked in that vehicle. But with my Focus RS we have a button which cycle's through driving modes but found out recently when activating drive mode the menu pops in the cluster you could use the steering wheel left and right and ok button to select which mode. Has anyone tried that option or does that not work with the mustangs

That is a fair point. I have never used it on my 2018 so I shouldn't knock it until I try it.
