Is it just me, or is the whole "drive mode" thing kind of dumb? Just give me a throttle cable connected directly to the throttle body....I'll control "throttle response" with my foot.
Correct... But in the 300A car you shouldn't have it...

To me it looks like an attempt to make car more civilized and looking at a number of wrecked 2015 we saw here, that probably wasn't too bad of an idea...

Drive modes were awesome when I wasn't tuned but now I don't use them as often. It's still nice be able to turn up throttle response when I feel like it. The Snow/Wet mode was also a necessity when driving in the snow last winter. It makes it a lot easier to maintain grip even on all seasons

I honestly don't think I would buy an Ecoboost mustang over an STI. The AWD makes the difference.

Mine remembers steering mode. It's the other toggle that resets to normal every time.
So once you set the steering it stays that way even if you change the drive mode?

Either that or it restores it when I leave a drive mode. Anyway I leave it in sport and every time I start my car its still in sport. Or however I last left it, I have been trying to use more normal mode lately.

Try putting your steering in Comfort then switch to Sport or Track drive mode. On the GTs (mine at least) switching to those drive modes changes the steering mode, I think to Sport.

Sorry I misread what you said.

I was simply saying that it remembers between car starts, unlike the driving mode that always resets. Steering will change with the modes, but honestly I don't use them anymore so I don't know if it restores the last driving mode when switching in/out. I just use S on my auto when I need maximum power.

You mean even with a tune it still defaults at startup to something less than optimal? I'd like to have it where it defaults to the most aggressive throttle map. I'm fine with having the option to "dial it back" in bad weather or what have you.

But having to change these toggles every time I start the car...:frusty:

I honestly missed the part where your car buying preference was relevant.

Not to mention your statement makes absolutely no sense. Why would I buy an STI which MSRPs for $35.5k and gets the same MPG as the 5.0. At that point I might as well have got the GT premium

The steering mode stays in whatever it was in before I turned the car off but I always just leave my car in normal drive mode now because I don't feel the need to change it to sport. Whereas before the tune sport was a lot more fun to drive in than normal. The tune also changed my auto shift points and it works best in normal

I enjoy having the ability to control the throttle sensitivity with the selectable drive modes. As a daily driver, the change in acceleration character the flip of a switch brings. To me, it's like having different throttle cables for different driving scenarios :-)

I find it a worthwhile addition to this vehicle. Makes it competitive on the world stage in which this car is sold.

my list is ecoboost vs wrx or sti vs gt.

my question is about the premium drive modes. I don't care for leather or navigation. so are the drive modes that important to have? how often do you use them?

this will be a DD car, which ever I choose if I buy a mustang, so is the premium package worth the extra coin for drive modes alone?

last mustang I had was a 12 boss and im looking for something cheaper and fun.
Dude the prem. is def worth it if it's your daily. You'll thank yourself down the road when you don't have a "base" interior (people get offended when you call it crappy). For me, I DD my car too and normally use normal setting but pop it into sport every once in a while and man, is it awesome. The throttle response is much better than normal and you can definitely feel it. Also the prem. switches enhance the racecar-ness too lol.

In terms of GT vs EB because those are the only two options I'd even consider out of your list. Think about traffic, commute, and how much money you're willing to burn on gas for smiles. Oh, and insurance.

For what you paid for your ecoboost, I'd rather take a base Gt, my ford touch is crap and cooled seats don't cool and also leather can be added.
