I know this is an old post but…..

My car doesn’t like drag mode for roll racing. From a dead stop for sure drag race mode but roll racing it is usually a tiny bit slower then just sport. Again this is just my car. Honestly getting a tune from Wengerd and having the roll race feature is the best thing I ever did. Put it in whatever drive mode you want, then put the shifter into S mode for manual shifting and pick the gear you wanna start in, then when your ready mash the throttle to the floor and as long as your wide open throttle the car shifts by itself as if it’s in auto. When your done racing you can manually shift the car and keep driving it in manual mode or click it back into Drive and chill.. lol. The car is so much more fun to roll race with and no more clicking the shifter back into drive during a race. I hated that shit.

Oh yeah i have that too the auto upshift on manual mode its so much easier. What drive mode do u choose when doing that tho? And does it matter when ur tuned? I dont think mine does that i only have the auto upshift on M

I always race in sport for roll racing. Like others have said roll racing in drag mode when your tuned sometimes isn’t optimized or the transmission just isn’t super happy. I’m supercharged also so depends how much power you have etc..

Any recommendations?
MT, Nitto or others. All depends. Most on here are running something like that.
I'm on 285s squared so I'm not much help. Will be going 305 out back at some point. And I am boosted. Haven't had any issues but I'm not drag racing, I have a manual. Car will spin the tires in 3rd gear just passing people if you aren't careful. Course driving and learning the car will be a big benefit regardless. So recommend that if you can do it. Plus don't want to have to change wheels and tires almost daily depending on the driving Ill be doing and/or weather here. Have the car setup and handles really well, even on track. Where I live the drag radial are pointless and summer tires are iffy as it can get into the 40s in the morn here even in summer.

So your tire choice and compound will matter by where you're at. What do you see people running by you? Or call local speed shops and see what is popular for your type of driving.

Most people who do roll racing in my area have drag radials on the rear. Ill be dailying my car so i dont think having a drag radials is ideal for me unless if i wanna get serious on racing which i do not. I just like to participate on it for fun not really competitive. I live in Nevada i think i can run ps4s but not so sure if thats enough to handle stock power on drag strip mode. Those shifts on drag mode is agressive

PS4S are great all around summer tires but once you get some power in your car they are absolutely useless. You can daily drive on drag radials, Mickey Thompson street SS or Nitto 555’s are fine. People who complain about them in rain is because they have no idea how to drive. When you’re driving a high hp car in the rain don’t fuck around and drive like a normal person lol.

My OCD won’t let me run 2 different brands of tires it hurts my brain 🤣🤣😂😂. Those sizes work great yes. I just bought weld Laguna wheels and Mickey Thompson tires in those sizes. Regular wheel in front and beadlocks in the rear with their sport comp front tire 255/45/18 and 305/45/17 street s/s drag radial in the rear. Havnt gotten them on the car yet but can’t wait for summer. It’s still winter sadly in MN, this state has no idea what season it is right now 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️😂. If your using 19” wheels or whatever size just made sure to try and keep similar height tires as stock as the car seems to like that the best. Stock mustangs with the performance pack have 27.7” rear height tires and 27” front height tires.

Thank you, and for the sake of your ocd ill buy a nitto r2 on the rear and nitto g2 on the front to match them up 😂 my front diameter would be 26.9 and rear would be 27.6. Good to go?
