Trans Only Shifting Into 2, 4 and 6

I cranked the car this morning and was welcomed with a wrench light and advised to check owner’s manual. Upon driving I quickly noticed it would only shift into even gears.

I limped to the dealer, who checked for codes. However when they cranked the car it did not show any codes for this issue (it showed an exhaust valve fault from last week only) and the warning light was gone. I drove off with the car and have not had any problems since.

Several owners On another platform have experienced similar issues. Some have had to get a new trams for sensor/clutch issues, whereas others have had an experience similar to mine, and the problem never returned.

I wanted to check with this group to see if any of you have had similar issues and/or what was the determined cause.

Car is mostly stock (intake/res delete), and is build 3123. I have approx 4400 miles. It is DD - “mostly” tame mileage.

Didn’t notice anything out of place from visual inspection. It’s not something I’m inclined to mess with further, since everything is working now. I’ll show this to the dealer when they run diagnostics in a couple weeks.

Same issue with mine yesterday.
Only even gears after a wrench that came after a 15-20 minute drive then park.
When restarted after a brief shopping trip - the wrench. Tried shutting off and restart with same wrench.
Went to drive and only even gears and very poor drive quality.
After about 10-15 minute drive being easy on it toward home, suddenly no wrench and again driving fine.
Checked connection on right strut and all seems good. I disconnected and reconnected just to see if a reseat would help.
This isn’t the first time I had a wrench but first time I had a tranny issue like this associated with it.
Hopefully it doesn’t reoccur. Dealer finds nothing on scans with wrench lights. Seems like computer thinks there is an issue but records nothing.

unplug and replug some of the transmission plugs? Maybe a bad connection...?

i ran my own obd scan and found a few codes in the Tcm. Problem has not reoccurred

What scanner do you have for the TCM codes
to show?

If R&R a connector solves the problem. Suggest light coat of Dielectric Grease.

Had this happen once and just did a hard reboot - disconnected and reconnected battery and it was gone.

I use OBD fusion app with add-on software for our vehicle. The scanner used is really up to you.

One time thing, I would’ve done what you did, especially documenting with dealer.
Now I’d just drive it without a worry and monitor. If anything I’d probably drive it harder than normal.
If it’s a mechanical issue, it’ll be back but if just an electrical hiccup, it may be a one timer.
