Hey All,
I'm currently looking to buy a set of winter tires for my 19 mustang PP1. I picked up a set of OEM wheels for $400, gonna have the curb rash repaired and the tires swapped to snows.
I'm looking at Blizzak LM005's, as they seems to claim better dry performance. My commute is 5 miles, so I can live with less than stellar snow performance. I live in the greater Boston area so snow is usually cleaned up fast, its not often that I find myself driving on snow covered roads. Most of the time I am on dry (salty) or slushy roads. Ice is atypical because of the aforementioned salt lol, and I'm not up in the mountains where I need to drive over packed snow.
The wheels came with a set of all seasons on them with one bald tire, I don't know if I should replace the all season or just swap the whole set to the LM005's.
In the past I ran a set of General Altimax arctic 12's on my focus ST, they were like jelly. Good snow performance, but absolutely absymal dry performance. Breaking was bad, I could set off the traction control at highway speeds. I'm scared of what that would be like in the mustang. Very much not a performance tire. I'm trying to avoid that for this car
What do you guys think? Opinions on the blizzaks? I'm shying away from the WS90 because the LM005 is sold as a "performance" winter tire.
