I got this nasty crack on my windshield I'd like to get fixed. The rates I'm getting on this are around $450 to $600. Does this sound consistent with what you guys are getting?

Those seem about right, minimum it's going to be $300 but knowing our mustangs probably not much under $450.

Make sure you specify exactly what you want, sound sensor glass, logo, etc

TC :)

I'll probably nuke the oval, and I don't have the rain sensor so that will be a savings. I found one guy in west Houston that will do it for $250 AND he claims he's got this thing in stock. I'm going to go take a look at it and see what it looks like.

I've done this twice. $494 and $496, both from Safelite, in different states. The sound-insulated glass is a) proprietary, b) expensive and c) tender.

I ditched the sound insulated glass and the oval and went el cheapo. $236 installed in about 30 minutes. So glad to have that split gone, it was really irritating. I'll post back results if this cheap version ends up biting me in the ass.

565.00 from safelite through my ins co. I had a 50.00 deductible so I went with the factory part vs safelite's brand. My 2015 didn't have the sound insulated glass but the new one is. Must be a 2016+ part. I suspect Travelers gets a pretty big discount off that price since they have a contact with safelite.

I was quoted $400 from a guy that does everyone's windshields at work. I will be OEM soundscreen glass with the same logo by the mirror, and he'll come here to do it. I just need to call him.

I wasn't interested in the logo, but the sound proofing would have been nice but with all the concrete and heavy equipment truck around here I wouldn't be surprised if I'll need to do this annually.

This crack was caused by a rock kicked up by a Ford F250 with 37' off roads and no mud flaps. Nailed me right on the edge of the passenger window. It sounded bad and I thought I got away without damage but upon closer inspection I saw the fracture. By the time I got around to stop drilling it the crack had extended across the passenger side so I just resigned myself to replacing it.

I just paid 375 installed for my OEM windshield. Seems like I did okay, but I kind of wish I would have just bought aftermarket and saved 150 or so.

I was on the beltway on the southeast side near 45 when something kicked up and hit mine. I thought it was going to come through the windshield. It currently runs from the edge on the passenger side to about 10" from the drivers side edge, so basically all the way across. I need to get the car inspected in November, and need to replace it to pass inspection.

Its pretty gnarly in places, lol.

Safelite did mine. $425 billed to ins. co. But it was OEM glass.

Just out of curiosity for those who have had the windshield replaced - how did the install service do with the sealing process? Meaning, in the exterior windshield channel, is there any sealant present or has it pressed/squished out from under the window?

My $235 replacement looked good on inspection, however these guys did it in 30 minutes and released it to me with the windshield taped up for 24 hours. Most of my replacements had at least a half day wait for the sealant to cook. I'm guessing this repair will fail but since I have the option to work at home I left it in my garage the rest of the night and the next day. We'll see if it holds up.

I don't know the part # but I have the sound shield glass in my 2016, there is an S197 option that may have an S550 solution "Optic Armor" is a lite weight glass for about $500.
