Why no performance pack for the automatic GT? (outside 50th ann. ed.)

We have seen pre-production ones with it.

If that is the case, that could be enough to push me into a 2015 SRT Challenger. It has to be a mistake.

Yeah, I certainly hope so. Because I want an auto, and my interest level would drop significantly if the track pack is not available on auto models.

I'm positive Ford has done their homework about the folks they believe will be looking to buy the car and one would guess that data suggests that those looking for autos with the performance package will not be a significant percentage.

Some of us who want to daily drive a car and slog through traffic don't want the hassle of a manual transmission.

It's a stupid decision if true. Even most exotics now use automated manuals. Car buyers nowadays, even one's who are buying performance cars, generally buy autos by a significant margin. Why should I be stuck with a transmssion I don't want to be able to get nicer brakes and performance upgrades?

Unless Ford drastically changes their ordering policies, there's no way you'll be able to order small pieces such as the gauges and front splitter by themselves. Those types of things will only be available in a package. If the wheels you're refering to are associated with a package that's the only way you can order them.

However, you will probably be able to buy all of those parts after the fact from Ford or Ford Racing and put them on yourself.

Not true. I can't think of anything I have ever been unable to order from a Ford regarding the Mustang. I ordered extra front splitters and side skirts for each of my GT500's, as I knew I would be driving them and incidents could happen. I also ordered an extra Boss 302 stripe kit (which I still have new in the box).

If the car is not offered with the stuff you want, you will be able to buy in post-purchase from Ford.

I will reiterate. If Ford offers a Brembo Brake package like the current 14's with the wheels and brakes, I may still be game. I don't understand offering the PP with the 50th model then turning around and snubbing potential PP automatic owners by not offering it. Makes little to no sense to me.

I will hold out for a Brembo package on the automatic. But I sure would like to have the gauges in the dash though without shelling out more money for aftermarket or to Ford and putting it in myself then worrying about "voiding" my warranty BS.

Because that's what Ford is offering? I'm positive that they have viable reasons for not offering it, if that ends up being the case.

That is part of the problem though. We should be able to buy them up front. Some of us buy on 4 to 5 year credit plans as well. It would be nice to roll that into the loan. Not shell out money after the fact that could have been done correctly from the start.

Front splitter shouldn't be too much. But those gauges and the dash will end up running well over $1000 I'd imagine if buying from Ford and that is before install.

I will keep my hopes up for a Brembo package.

Im be really curious about the number of people buying autos that opt for the track pack. I'm sure there's data out there... anyone have an idea?

Im one of the ones that would be in this boat if I buy a 2015 and I wonder how many others there are too and whether this will make you reconsider? I'm on the fence about it.

The base brakes on the GTs are the same size and performance as the current brembos. They just don't have the Brembo name stamped onto them. The new optional PP brembos are the same ones as offered on the current GT500. Bottom line is, the base GT will stop better than the current GT with Brembos so I don't think you need to worry on that front.

As far as gloss black wheels, well we'll just have to see what the options are but they have shown an orange ecoboost with different gloss black wheels than the GT PP so not all hope is lost. Tell you what, I'll be selling my black wheels because I can't stand them.

I had way too many issues with the manual trans in my 2011. First one failed at 3k miles, second one was notchy and noisy. I then swapped the car to a 6R80 and was much more happy. I will surely be getting the auto.

+`100% You can't beat the consistency and reliability of the Auto for drag. An aftermarket tune does wonders to the auto as well vs the manual.

If your into tracking the car, get the 5.0 or 4pot manual.

I have an auto as well, but would prefer to have the padel shifters as an option like the Vette does.

I'd like them stock is the thing. I'm not adverse to mods. I've spent thousands on my GTO. It is the point of spending money on mods to draw even with the 50th anniv. automatic just to keep "even" if you get my meaning. Why start us out at a proverbial "disadvantage" from the get go? I know I'm not alone here. I am wondering what is Ford's rationale?

Besides if Ford comes out and says 450 HP for the 5.0 tomorrow, I can forget a few things when 30 extra horsepower come to town. But if they don't there are some other options that I may explore, and that won't help out Ford bring in new blood so to speak. I am my name a Free Agent that is looking for a home. I hope Ford listens to me.

However, I don't think it's as big of a deal that they don't offer the entire performance package as this is consistent with what has been done recently.

I can understand wanting the aesthetics of the cooler front splitter, but the money you save by not checking the box can get you that aftermarket. Also, the gauges to me should be almost not even be considered a loss. One of them still appears to be a vacuum gauge. You won't miss that. Take the rest of the money you'll save by not checking the PP box and get yourself two gauges you actually want. Someone will have the mounting hardware to do it aftermarket in the factory location soon enough.

In the end I hope Ford will offer something you can still love.

I hope so. Thanks for taking the optimistic side. I can understand not offering the entire PP. They don't currently so that is understandable. I will have to hope that the front splitter isn't that expensive. I'd love to have the gauges there already to swap in some gauges I'd really want. I do wonder about the ducting behind them though. PP has 2 vents and regular has 3 vents. I worry that it won't be a simple plug and play swap over.

Again, in the end I hope the Brembo brake package is offered with the gloss black staggered 19's. I want the stopping power, the extra rubber and the black wheels dearly without having to fork over a bunch of extra money on the aftermarket.
