"The refresh was terrific. Lower leading hood line, front air curtains, LED head & fog lights, new hood design w/clean vents, rear bent tail lights & quad exhaust tips. It is the poor man's Aston Martin. Looks good in all colors. Mine's Ruby Red."
You nailed it. Except for the Aston Martin. I look at the AM as merely being a rich man's Mustang. I also agree w/another reader that said Ford wanted a new 'suit of clothes' for the Gen III Coyote. :like:

1. Unfortunately life’s not fair.
2. its more serious how much faster the 18+ is, especially 10 speed auto version.
3. I don’t know why you think the “fusion“ front looks better. It’s all subjective though, as you can see from my pic posted the 18+ front just looks much meaner, unlike that sad face headlight on the 15-17.
4. The stock hoods are much nicer on the 18+.
5. The GT500 keeps the 15-17 fronts relevant.

I love all mustangs, but I think 18+ is the mean as fuck look. I think 15-17 is prettier car look.

pick your preference.

Ahhhh ... a fan of the classics. The DB5 ... what's not to like?

Aston had the look first. This is a 2009 Aston. TBH I thought Ford copied it a little too much.

Go back further.....

1994-2003 DB7 Zagato. Just timeless. If Ford copied this they did good.

This is why I hope they don’t change the S650 too much. I also consider the S550 to have timeless styling. Time of course will tell.

Just an FYI ... FoMoCo owned Aston Martin from 1991 until 2007.

Lol this thread. No rando who likes the look of mustangs will ever say which one is nicer looking between the 2, most won't even realize there is a difference.

As for the mechanical updates it literally boils down to A10. 460hp? sure a bit more (excluding the e85 tunes). DI? Meh. A10? yea that is what set it apart. Don't believe me? Go look for all the interesting 18+ stick record threads from all that extra power lol. The PP2 though is a great package but not as easily found

I am curious as to what updates are in the future for the A10. What comes next? Maybe not more gears but maybe DCT, more advanced converters?

The mach 1 will be tempting. That fighter jet gray with orange accents looks pretty slick

"The early 1960s British electrical system."
While I have most likely heard all of the Lucas jokes, in all fairness, I owned two (2) Triumph Spitfires & a Mini & never had electrical issues w/any of them. :whew:

This is Texas. Would tumbleweed suffice? :tumbleweed:
If that's where your cars lived then that's probably why you had no issues - its the continuous damp / UK winter conditions that mostly killed them :like:

To be fair, I think similar problems were widespread across a lot of manufacturers in the UK during that era ... :cwl:

They killed the gearing ratios. If you put a shorter rear end in them, they book. I'm partially convinced they did it to help save MT-82 warranty claims, with the official stance being fuel economy, lol. Or maybe they wanted to help us not crash so often. Either way, with real gears the gap is far closer between the A10 if you can drive.

You're underselling the advantage of the DI system though. You can run E85 with no additional hardware, and pick up a LOT more power than the older cars with a tune and some corn. These cars are absolute NA monsters on E85. Of course, the trade off is all the ticking and knocking that makes it sound like your car is broken in the drive thru.

I think these debates are always amusing though. Both cars look good to me, I just like the refresh more, mainly because of the updated hood line and those fantastic LED headlights. But we all will keep fighting until the next refresh comes out, and then those owners will tell us our cars are ugly in comparison. Can't wait lol

Yes my 2016 has that catfish look to its front but its clean and classic without all those creases that are in the 2018 update which I don't like at all but that's just my opinion.

Oh goody, another pre-post facelift thread. This won't end well, but I'd just remind everyone to respect each other's opinions on what they prefer and why.

I will admit, it's unusual to see a facelift version have a longer shelf life than the original. The S197 was more traditional in its approach

'05-'09 (5 model years)
'10-'12 (3 model years for this significant refresh)
'13-'14 (2 model years for this much milder refresh)

versus

'15-'17 (3 model years)
'18-'22 (5 model years)

Seems S650 will follow S550's lead though:
'23-'25 (3 model years)
'25-'29 (5 model years)

Some of us are old enough to remember the 88-93 refresh
