Hi there,

is anyone out there who already installed the Ford Perfomance hood struts on the latest GT 2018 facelift model ?
As the hood has been redesigned I am wondering if fits perfectly.
The dealers says ye - but so far I never heard of anyone who tried this.

Thanks an best
Oli

I'm not much help, but I would think it'd be fine. I doubt they changed the mount points when they updated hte skin.

I put hood struts on my 2018 using a kit from eBay designed for 15-17 model's. Fitment is fine, hood opens&closes like it's supposed to. With the obvious caveat you now have to push it closed vs just dropping it:thumbsup:

?? The strut should be near-fully compressed by the time the hood hits the striker. Redline units are and I still drop the hood to latch it.

There are a lot of threads about 15-17 hood struts almost fitting 2018s, with some small changes to installation. Careful. The listed torque on the bolts is changing as installation instructions are updated.

Mine falls on the latch , then I have to push it down to lock:shrug:

I also have hood struts from my 15 installed on my 18 with no issues. I got mine from American Muscle (MMD) a while back. I do give mine a little shove when I close the hood to make sure it latches. If I don't it sometimes pops up. It may be an adjustment but it doesn't bother me, its not much effort.
