Hi Stangsters! Hope all is good with you guys! With 11.9k miles, my baby is still going strong and still getting compliments by strangers! This year, I have seen more and more 2015 Mustangs on the streets here on the treasure coast of Florida (sad moment sometimes when you see a S550 coming and throw a big wave only to have them ignore you and then you find out it's a rental; of course).

It's been a while since I posted on the forum, but there has just been something that has bothering me ever since I purchased my Mustang. The surrounding other drivers on the road are so damn hostile! Maybe it's because I live in FL, maybe it's because I have a red car, who knows..

I find myself to be a good, courteous driver. I ALWAYS use my blinker, drive a little over the speed limit, never tailgate (don't want rock chips on my car and most importantly don't want to rear end someone because that puts me automatically at fault), always let in other drivers at crossings, etc. People are just different towards me when I am driving my Mustang. I've driven my mothers Jeep Wrangler and it's like I never get into confrontation with other drivers as they are calm around her car and always generous.

When I drive my Mustang, I feel like it's signaling other drivers to target me aggressively by cutting me off, trying to speed around me, always wanting to be first out of the intersection at a red light, not using a blinker, and definitely a tailgating party.

Does anyone know the psychology around why this is? I don't want to say that it's because I am a young man driving a new sports car because that makes me feel/sound conceited, lol.

Not really my experience, maybe it's an FL thing but there has been another similar thread on this. Only issue I see is everybody wanting to race all the time.

On waving; I have noticed I rarely get acknowledged from any other mustang drivers, so much so that I've stopped initiating.

They're just jealous. F'em! Might want to get a dash cam though if it's really that bad.

I dunno, but I had someone cut me off on an empty highway as I attempted to pass (they moved to the left lane as I signaled. So I immediately went back to the right and gunned it. About 30 seconds later, he passes me at 100mph or so, gets back in my lane and slams on the brakes.

I ended up passing him again and had no incidents after that. But why he felt the need to do that, I don't know. Some people are just stupid.

It was a beat up econobox though... his complete right side of the car was completely dented in, probably self inflicted.

Edit: I've said it before, but I never bother waving at someone with a mustang. Not because I'm against it, but I just don't see it if they wave at me, and I assume the same back. What I do though, especially with some of the older mustangs, is that I'll acknowledge them with a friendly rev. Usually I'll get one back too.

It's possible that you notice these behaviors more now because you are in a new car and are over cautious so that nothing happens.

I've had similar thoughts since I got my Race Red S550 a few weeks ago. More people seem to tailgate or drive aggressively around me than before. Also it seems like the most of my tailgaters are older women in SUVs. IDK...I dont exactly drive slow, but I have been taking it easy with the new car. Wasn't like that when I had my loud-as-hell cammed GTO; so it might have to do with the fear factor. People that aren't into that kind of stuff may back off from a mean sounding car.

I got behind a school bus on a back road on my way home from work last week, some guy behind me in an older model honda civic was giving me the finger basically the entire time.Keep in mind it was a one lane twisty road and a 35 mph speed limit.Well,I eventually made a right turn onto my road, and the finger waving hero behind me took off in a cloud of grey smoke ,sounding like a swarm of pissed off bumble bees. Not sure what his problem was but maybe he didn't like the rear end of my CO S550.

I drive the way you describe the hostile drivers, its a FL thing. Also, if you were just barely going over the speed limit in front of me in any lane other then the far right, I would cut you off as well

I just got a 16 Shadow Black Base EB.. nothing fancy but everywhere I go almost everyone tailgates me, cuts me off, does a flyby etc etc.. I've had 2 C5 vettes pull up along side and floor it, countless chargers (mostly V6's) flooring it past me (I go above the speed limit) on city streets.. every civic/jetta/veloster/genesis I see wants to race out of every intersection.. Usually I just ignore them but sometimes I have to show these fools what that twin scroll low end torque is about, it gets annoying tho.

I really do think it's a jealousy/envy thing.. I've seen some M4's, IS350's, S4's pulling up quickly but in almost every case they give a head nod or some kind of acknowledgement as if to say "nice car" whereas the clowns that always want to race in their pos boxes look away when I look towards them.

Also, everytime I see another Mustang on the road any model year I always give a nod or thumbs up Lol. One time a SN95 gave me a few quick friendly honks and wave as he made a right at an intersection heh.. that was cool.

-Just wanted to add, I'm also in Florida.

It's not just a FL thing, there are hostile drivers in every state.

I care about infotainment
Florida is literally the worst. The first mod I planned, and installed this weekend, was a dashcam because drivers here are insane.
