Got the new legs installed, the squeak was gone but came back a couple of days later, anyone with this problem?
One thing to check and one to try.

CHECK your belt tension; the tensioner should be around 75% of its travel. The adjuster for increasing/decreasing the tension is located on the bottom right side pulley facing the engine.

TRY turning the belt around if tension is good. This has fixed many 'squeakers' alone.

Awe shit. 2000 miles n hooptie noises starting

Man, not sure wtf but I have developed multiple hooptie noises past two weeks.
All sound belt related as they track rpm.

Hooptie noise 1:
Occurs only on cold engine and sounds like belt sqweek. Very geto. Goes away warm.

Hooptie noise 2:
This sounds like possibly belt slip or idler or jackshaft bearing. Only occurs under load on a pull and comes in after 3000rpm and disappears after 5800ish. Its a very metallic ringing sound. Slightly more pronounced when cold but never completely goes away after warm.

Testing so far:
I pulled the belt and went thru all the pulleys looking for bearing play.
Anyone else have play in the bearing on the tensioner pulley? My kit had a dayco tensioner.

Any part numbers for pulley alignment kits? Gates or Dayco have good ones?

Any testing method suggestions?

Next cold start Ill try n record Hooptie Noise 1. Ill shut down and maybe try lithium greasing the suspect tensioner idler bearing and see if it stops.
Maybe run a couple minutes at 2k idle and see if any idler bearings are warmer than others to the touch.

I can also try water spray bottle on belt but not sure how that isolates issue to any one pulley.

Hooptie noise 2 will be tricky to record as I think ill need a mic under the hood and do a couple pulls.

Hooptie noises like bronchitis, aint nobody got time for that.

sigintel do you have the upgraded perches? If not you need to start there. If you do, did you try flipping the belt around? If not start there.

I had the noises you mentioned but all is quiet now after perch change and new belt

I had the press fit standoffs; however, I machined the shoulders of mine down to get the end to face on the plate with a very loose interference fit.
They did send me another set of already machined standoffs so I could easily try those.

No time to look at it till this weekend maybe.

Most noises were caused by the idler stands being pressed in crooked. We modified the stands to eliminate a chance of this happening. The belt when there is misalignment gets damaged on the edge. The edge, when going by a guard can make a noise, most common to be found at the water pump pulley.

Once the belt is damaged the noise will not go away unless the belt is flipped around moving the damage to the other edge or replaced. The autozone belt has a different edge then the Gates belt and maybe less prone to making noise.

After changing my Tstat i had a squeak, but I think it was spilled coolant on the belt, I had oil pump, crank gear, harmonic balancer and 72lb injectors installed so I gave them the replacement idler stands to be installed at the same time. I picked up my car (back in October) and no squeak, I forgot to take all my old parts and I finally got them recently and noticed the idler stands and still in the package, still no squeak and i have about 16k miles on the original belt included with my kit.
