Hey guys

So about two weeks I got an oil change on my 2017 mustang GT with a whipple stage 2 kit. I told the service guy that whipple recommends ford motor craft 5w-50 in the car. After I received the car back a week later I noticed when my car is in D or S on the shifter there’s a very audible tick sound that can be heard from the outside and inside. When the car is put in Park it goes away. However I checked the sticker placed on my windshield and It says they put 5w-20 in the car. It also says on the invoice they put 5w-20 oil in the car but have it listed as “GT500/GT350 Full Synthetic oil”. Below I have attached the picture and video of what I am talking about. Can you guys please listen to the video and let me know if you think the ticking sound is due to the oil?

What oil do you guys use in your cars? Can I even get away with 5w-20 oil in the car?

Thanks

Sounds like bbq tick , I would drop the oil and put 5w 50 in it , if tick still there add a bottle of Ceretek that should get rid of ticking . A lot of 5.0 get tick after oil change. Cheers

This is case in point, exactly why you never trust anyone but yourself. Do your own oil changes, even if it means you need to by a jack and some stands. Trust nobody with your baby! I don't! I use T6 Rotella full syn. 5W40 in mine and its n/a. Also, I thumbs up the earlier comment on put a bottle of Ceratec in it. I'd recommend 1.5 bottles actually, that's what I also use. Zero tick. Lots of piece of mind.

I've never seen Whipple recommend 5w50, but I'm sure it would run fine. I run 5w20 (30 sometimes) in my car and I don't have the tick. These engines can be touchy.

Why does anybody drop their car off for an oil change. Especially with a blower. The guy working on your car does not give a shit.

Those look like 18+ directions. My 15-17 install manual does not say anything about using different oil. 15-17 definitely doesn't take 10 quarts.

Yeah. They are for the 18+. That’s what I’m running. Maybe Whipple only recommends it for Gen 3. ????

Still confused on what to do... should I keep the 5w-20 in the car and let it continue to tick as posted on the video via the google drive link I shared... or drop the oil and put 5w-50...

Tech at the dealer probably took it out for a few laps.I never leave my.car at a dealer.I have free oil changes and i.stay with my car.Even when i told service writer that no one test drives my car,i had to stop a tech from trying to sneak my car off the lot for a test ride.He laughed like it was funny!!!.
